Wendy, It's a good thing you have a wood stove! I probably wouldn't sell chicks now since I only have a small Brinsea Mini Advance and I have to keep it free after this hatch to be able to set some certain Marans eggs at a moment's notice, but I might be interested in selling some hatching eggs once all my blue and green egg layers are all laying again. If it's Olive Eggers you want though, my pairing isn't the best. From my very limited understanding, my roo has the potential to create some really interesting colors, but there will be a ton of variation in his pairings with the green egged EE, including offspring that might lay ordinary brown eggs.

Hi Euarto,
You are welcome to borrow my Genesis incubator and turner. This was my one time for this spring. I had bigger hopes of crossing my roo with my 2 dark chocolate bCM hens, but in December my roo started eating all of my eggs. So he had to go. I knew I had about 30 days to try to hatch anything he might have fertilized, so I tried with only my blue eggs. With these 6 chicks, that puts me at 26 and 2 turkeys so I am going to quit for now.
But if you decide to sell any chicks, i would happily buy one just to see what your colors are like compared to mine. Wendy

Lovely egg color! Big R had some "Olive Egger" chicks two years ago, but since they don't know what chick is what breed, all you can do is guess. As it turned out we ended up with one.
They had some 2 years ago at our Big R too. We got three chipmunk striped ones (EEs) and 1 out of those EEs is an olive layer. It's a gamble, but I'd say it was worth it. The three EEs ended up being 1 blue layer, 1 green layer, and 1 brown layer.

Wendy, that's very generous of you to offer your incubator. I'm at 21, have 10 in the incubator now with two more planned hatches with my Mini Advance. Letting me use an incubator that can hold 50 eggs at once would be dangerous. A weapon of math destruction. If my blue and green egg layers start up soon, I might squeeze in the Olive Egg hatch before the Marans. If so, I'll let you know.

Just out of curiosity, do they have different colored legs
Mine all have legs that are about the shade of an unripe banana. The color really popped when they were adolescents, and it was really neat to see. The earlobe of my blue layer almost looks like it's painted on!

I candled the eggs that i placed in my home made wine refrigerator incubator ( wine-o-bator) last night. I pulled out 4 that were clearly not fertile. The rest are developing nicely. Lots of movement. I will candle again right before lock down. At this point i would say it is doing well. I may be building another larger one if anyone would be interested. The new one will be a bit more refined and larger but should work just the same as the smaller original one that i built for myself.
