Colorado

We might take them to big r in Elizabeth, but Murdoch's is closer for feed, but I don’t think they carry the brands/types I like and feed my flocks.

If all else fails I have a bunch of millet, boss, oats, calf manna, rabbit gro pellets and bird seeds so I can always make do with what we have on hand if we can't make it to the store, but I have a 5 gal bucket of ff for the 3 different flocks to get me by until I can get to wardel's or contact happy hens for 200 lbs (been saving feed bags).

Meat bird final cost round-up
Okay, here is a breakdown of the costs.....

chicks $2.34 each shipping included

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Shavings $7.00
heat lamp $20.00
propane $10.00
chick starter $36.00
chick grower $38.50
finisher $40.25
total $151.75/ 24 chicks = $6.32 each bird grow cost so....

Each bird cost me $6.32 + $2.34 = $8.66 and what did I post, an average wt of 3.5 lbs ? or something like that.
These birds spent a lot of time outside and ate a lot of greens and garden stuff.
They taste amazing and add some extra $ for freezer camp sleeping bags LOL!

Very nice! How old were they when you processed them?

Hi everyone, Im not sure if I've posted on this thread before, but I wondered if anyone has a friendly roo that needs a home. My friend lost her roo to a coyote today and is looking for another good protector. Thanks!

I have a gorgeous grey rooster, 4 months old, who sounds the alert to my 20 hens when a red-tailed hawk is in the barnyard and then stays out to stand his ground. He is an awesome protector. I don't necessarily need to give him away, but I would to the right home.

Yes, Zemecterin gold is the one we used. I was very comfortable using it, after reading the info on the box. They've done studies, and even giving three times the actual dose, there were no side effects. I felt like that made it more forgiving, with attempting to correctly dose chickens.
I also found, when using the Valbazen, giving the dose orally was easier then pieces of bread soaked with the dose.
I agree with two things - Valbazen was easier dosing orally (my chickens don't gobble anything up when I'm holding them) but it didn't work on the aggressive tapeworm load this year, at least with three of my hens. I just dosed them with Zimectrin Gold. Pea-sized dose on my finger, opened each bird's beak and kinda scraped it in. Worked great. Hoping for a positive outcome!

I wormed a few months ago, my dp meaties are about 3 months old, freezer camp date is 4-5 weeks from now, I was thinking I need to worm again soon, but is it the same thing for muscovy ducks too?
