Colorado

The first person that whines about the heat this summer is going to be taken out back and beat.  I am avoiding the fact that I need to go out and shovel paths around the property so I can feed the horses.  It's probably 3 hours of shoveling and at least 2/10th of a mile.  No I'm not exaggerating.    My car was stuck in the driveway so I made it worse and let it roll down the hill so I wouldn't totally block the driveway.  I've got eggs, milk and coffee so I can survive.  I've thought about making a plow for the horses but we haven't had snow like this in 5-7 years so you forget how bad it can get so that project goes to the bottom of the list.

I would think if you ordered NN eggs, you would get NN chicks or is the nakedness recessive?  The black chick is more than likely out of the blue Am.  I can't find my color charts but if I remember right they have a 25% chance of black chicks plus the dark legs would indicate Am not NN.  Interesting too on the BR chick.  That's one hen the boys never hang with.  If Margie doesn't want the incubator back, I can gather more eggs for you to try.  I'm averaging 8-10 a day.

I agree about summer! Lol.
My little car has gotten stuck in the driveway three times. I have to leave the way we come in now, for some reason the left side of the circle I way deeper snow than the right.

I borrowed a broody bantam from a friend and introduced the chicks to her a couple days ago.
Mama broody isn't letting me get many pictures, and I never saw the NN, but I am sure it's under the mama somewhere.

Anyway, here are a few pics of the newly hatched chicks.

Any of them look like they could be from you PC?

I've had both my car and truck stuck in the drive way sometimes both at the same time. I was at my mom's Xmas last year and it started dumping. Long story short, I got stuck in the driveway right by the hay trailer. It sat there for 2 weeks. I would of moved it with the truck but what was the point? It couldn't go anywhere. Anyway my 2 cripple geldings that just run loose on the property were eating off of a bale of hay (4x4). They undermined it so bad that the bale collapsed and the top bale (1200#) fell off just missing my car by a few feet. Talk about luck.

Oh, that is a cool chart.

I totally want to get some Ameracaua eggs from you to hatch later, probably closer to the end of March. Shall I PM you for details?

PS - sorry you have to shovel so much. Your not far from us, we have a out a a foot over here. I would imagine you are about the same?
By than, I should be able to identify their eggs. I do have 3 different blues but it is so subtle and they are young so all bets might be off... I have a ft too. Not stopping.

Oh my goodness, how adorable! I wonder if my broody hen would take any hatched chicks because that's too cute.

Holy smokes! I'm glad it missed your car! That's the last thing you would need!

Wow, this thread is moving right along! We have about five inches, with a few drifts..... must have dumped all along the front range this time!

Think of all the grass you will have with this moisture later this spring!

I have thought of buying some hatching eggs on line, but with the luck I have had, think I will hold off for now, as I have enough of my own to set in the next few months.

Welcome to the thread! Sounds like you are well on your way to having a nice mixed flock!

Not sure how the NN gene works, but wonder if it is not a gene that is easily passed on?????
