Colorado

Yep, my girls are hunkering down in the coop too today, we have around three inches of snow on the ground. Yep, ours are only out when someone is home, otherwise they stay in the coop. I did plastic for their outside run area this winter, was nice wind free inside this area, but snow accumlation has been an issue with these last few wet snows, going to figure out something else for next year. Have seen some great ideas on the BYC Wintering coop ideas thread.

I really am loving the chicken condo my bf built me in November. It has made integration a breeze, today I got my chicks and cx meaties integrated with the white bresse and muscovy ducks.

I was just reading some hatching threads and see some people have reported eggs hatching the next day after lockdown. I guess at this point anything is possible, I am not sure how much I will be sleeping this week.

OMG the shot of your babies meeting their parents was super cute. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.
It was pretty funny to watch, even with my health not being that great. I'm hoping I get to feeling better soon so my dad and I can get started on at least a grow out pen for the 2 older chicks. They are dying to have more room to hop and fly around in than they do now. Plus, the male is starting to make dinosaur noises instead of chick noises. It would be nice to get them outside, at least during the day when it's not cold and rainy.

I hope you get a male with the blue egg gene! That's my biggest disappointment with having to cancel my MPC order - most of the order was for EEs because I wanted those blue/green eggs! But I am glad that I got a partial crested male from my current flock so that I can try to keep that going and just create a strain of punk rock barnyard mixes. :D Good luck this week!

Hmm. I might have a ccl rooster chick that I just hatched if you are needing a blue egg laying gene rooster. Because ccl are not in my breeding program atm.

Is it the chipmunk colored ccl chicks that are roosters or pullets?

The male has a blonde splotch on his head, female would have nothing or a tiny dot. And yes, a female would have the obvious striping.

Located in Northern Colorado and my family and I are looking for more chicks/pullets/hens to expand our flock!

We're looking for all of these:

black australorp
silver laced wyandotte
blue cochin
blue ameraucana
olive egger
salmon faverolle
egyptian fayoumi
lavender orpington

Willing to pay any price as long as they're female (we understand it's hard to sex some). We've been looking for these for a while so please help us accomplish this dream! Any suggestions are completely accepted! Thank you!

Northern Colorado Feeders Supply and perhaps Ranch-a-Way in Fort Collins carries some of those as pullets. Or there is the drive to Kiowa option.
Ranch-a-Way is vaccinating the chicks for Mereks and so is the Kiowa store but Northern Colorado Feeders Supply is not.
PM me if you need more details. I will help with what I can.
