The Pikes Peak Co-Op in Calhan will custom mix for you but I am not sure the minimum pounds required. They will also bag for you for a price or you can pick up in bulk but you have to provide the containers. We require a lot of feed at our place.

Big R doesn't carry any of it but the lay crumbles. Fowler is less than an hour away. Still worth the drive to make sure my chickens get the best. When I go I buy a truckload so I don't have to go back as often. I have never bought Big R feed and never will. It's kinda like buying Ol Roy for your AKC show dog!!!

I give them oatmeal in the morning when I cook some up for my granddaughters , but of course it's cooked, and they seem o like it. Their only 8 weeks is that alright to feed your blend to them now or should I wait?

The reasons for me wanting to go organic are partially customer demand as well as my intense loathing for Monsanto and other big ag corporations and their GMO corn and soy. If corn and soy in your feed isn't specifically labeled ORGANIC, it IS genetically modified.

I don't mind making a trip even with high gas prices, but if I need a custom blend, the last place I asked said I had to order a ton. I have 6 ducks and 5 quail. I am pretty sure the food would go bad long before they could eat it

The organic chicken feeds I have found are way too low in protein for me. I feed the quail and ducks the same feed. 28% is what I need because of the quail. The ducks also have free choice of whole oats and milo. I can get both of those at Big R though the price just went up. The feed I am using now is the game bird/turkey/meat bird stuff but it is mostly GMO corn and soy.

I am going to check this out. Not any farther for me than Fowler. It might actually be closer and have a SIL that lives out that way. Good reason to visit!!!!

Do you know if it is their own mix or can you have them mix what you want????

You can have them mix what you want as long as they have the grains you want.

I don't have a lot of space for milo. I am growing quino and amaranth. The ducks should be able to eat that. I have lots of little things that I supplement their diet with (dandelions, rosy minnows, duckweed, kitchen greens, etc...) but with my small space I can't grow enough for them to just live on what I grow.

The milo at Big R is $9/ The quail hate it though. They would rather have millet.

Do you mean quinoa? I just want to be sure because we EAT this stuff a lot-- wife loves it. We also sprout it-- my chicks go ape for it! But I never thought of growing it. Is it a large plant? I believe its a grass grain, no? If so, it might be worth my while to grow a patch for my peeps.
