Does anyone know what hatchery Big R gets their chicks from? I am trying to figure out what kind I may end up with if I pick some up.... I dont want any sexlinks or white egg layers...

But I was thinking McMurray?

I know the Big R in Elizabeth gets their chicks from Privett Hatchery. I also know that the last couple of years they would let all the kids that came in pick them up and hold them and I stood there and watched kids pick up chicks from the straight run bin and then put them back down into the pullet only bin. I'm guessing more people than should have ended up with cockerals when they thought they were getting (and paying for) pullets. When I pointed out that it wasn't healthy for the kids or chicks to be picked up like that and that the chicks were being put down into the wrong bins they said they were going to keep them in an enclosed area this year and not let anyone pick them up anymore.

The farm stores around here get their chicks from Privett also.

The Merchantile Brighton in the past had them in stock tanks so everyone could pick them up but now they have them in nice little brooder cages. I've had good luck with my Privett babies.

Details??

I was at the Falcon Big R yesterday and they get their ducks/chicks from Privett. They had big charts on the wall with Privett's name all over them.

They only had 2 breeds of ducks. Rouens and Pekings. I bought a Rouen. (At least I think it is a Rouen. I don't want to have to clip mallard wings

It is every third Sunday, last month was the first one. There was more people there then I expected for the first time. It is in the parking lot behind Sweeneys, which we had a terrible time finding.

It is in pueblo west. There were a lot of pigeons and doves there, quite a few banties, some goats and sheep, a llama, some turkeys and geese and ducks, and quite a few pheasents.

I would like to go tomorrow, but I cant skipp teaching Sunday School to many sundays in a row....

Plus DH might take my keys if I keep bringing home animals.

It is free addmission, sellers fee only $5. I am not sure who to contact, but if you get a thrifty nickel (American Classifieds) paper it is in there, or maybe look in the Pueblo Craigslist, I saw it awhile back.
