When the broody got up with her chicks I picked the eggs up left in the nest and tried to see if they were developed or not ( couldn't tell), then I put them back. Oh I also put a few under a bantam that just went broody not knowing if the first broody would go back...after all this time of me not messing with the eggs I do this...anyway...I went and looked this morning and it looks like at least one more hatched under the first broody and the bantam has one chick under her now.Congrats on the babies....can't wait for the pictures! She might or might not go back to the eggs. If she doesn't more than likely those eggs were not viable. That has been my experience, mama knows when know more babies will hatch.

So, what is that? At least 8 chicks?
I'm ok with that.
I have a couple tweaks to make (the roosts didn't come the way I thought they would but should be easily modified) but otherwise it's lovely and holding chickens quite well.
Congrats on the unexpected momma and chick! Do you know/can you tell who the daddy is/was? How old does it look? Any idea how long they've been hiding under there?
Normally that encompasses Harley and yours truly. No big plans for memorial day... Probably just relax and reflect on/about those less fortunate than I... I served and retired. Many before me served and never came home... That's the reason for the weekend after all. Several of the men I served with are no longer with us... not all service related, but still. How bout you? Family get together perhaps? BBQ with friends?
