At this point I am looking for eating eggs

I think I may have a hen about to go broody and then I need to decide if I dare hatch eggs while we are renting and not sure where we'll move next... probably not right now. DH and I will think about that side of things. But right now we are needing eating eggs... I think someone closer would probably work better on that side of things. What breeds do you have in case we decide to hatch some soon?

Cacky: Humphrey is ready for Ghillie to pick him up tonight (Friday) after work and deliver to him to you this evening. If you don't want him, tho, and are concerned about your other rooster, I'm sure I can take him to the Kiowa animal swap Saturday morning and sell him.

Godiva: I have about 2 dozen eating eggs I can sell right now. The weather threw everything off but hopefully things will get back to normal today. However ... as of last night, the ameraucana roo isn't with girls any more (BUT if you get them today, I have about 7-10 eggs from him and his girls that I haven't refrigerated yet ... you have to tell me this morning tho!). Otherwise ... what I have for hatching is ... I have a partridge (I think) egger rooster (Lenny) on egger hens and black australorp hens. The chicks coming from the ba/egger cross have been black with cheek-tufts and odd spots here and there. The chicks from Lenny with the egger hens are the typical egger chicks.

Here's a pic of Lenny (and a white plymouth rock that we no longer have):

I talked to Joe this morning. He is going to go ahead and bring him down. I have a large dog kennel that I can put him in and he will just have to stay there until Sunday. I want to be able to supervise when I let him out. My sis is getting married tomorrow and I will be go pretty much the whole entire day so will have to do Sunday! I am trying like mad to get rid of my other roo. I will just put the kennel inside the coop so he can see them and get acclimated first.

BTW if anyone is interested in a free EE roo let me know. He is fertile as I have 10 babies that I just hatched from him!! He is not aggressive and actually is kinda a wuss. The first one to scatter when I walk in!!

@ MyKidLuvsGreenEgz - Humphrey is here all safe and sound. Of course my top hen had to come and investigate which got him all worked up and then all the others had to come check what the ruckus was. Got them all back in and gave him a rabbit waterer as he kept dumping his water. Don't know if he knows how to work one but didn't want him to be without water. I was going to leave the lights on for the night but I think it was wreaking more havoc than necessary. My EE roo is going to a new home on Sunday morning so I will try to integrate him at that time so he doesn't have any competition. I am hoping that he does well here and thanks to you and Joe for getting him to me! I will try and post some pics once he gets all settled!

A moth decided to fly into the brooder today while I was giving the chicks water. About half my flock decided to give chase; running and flapping of wings.

One of my 4wk BCM's came out the lucky winner

but had to do some pretty fancy maneuvering to keep the moth away from the rest of the gang. It sure was fun to watch. Speaking of which, since the chick gobbled down a moth would this be a good time to introduce chick grit? Thanks!
