I utilized the beautiful day yesterday afternoon working on one of the larger grow-out coops. Not "finished", but usable as it is right now. It has no paint or trim, but it "could" be used today. The plan is to get the other one to the same stage this afternoon. Now I need to find cheap paint......

I've noticed that with the chickens on the lawn...I'm watering more often than I have in the past.

I only really bust out the water for the lawn if it looks a bit on chicken crunchy side... LOL

Well, it has been a very dry spring this year. Any water that we do get is gone. Pastures are dry and there are no chickens or other critters on them.

Got a nice 4 hour rain shower last evening. Good soaking rain. Anybody else?

I put my flock in early last night...6:30pm. We had a great rain that started about 3:00pm and it brought lots of much needed moisture. Thank goodness for the rain. The Ducks were in Hog Heaven investigating each and every down-spout, billing in the wet grass and splashing in the puddle that formed under the spout. They were like a couple of little kids playing in mud puddles.

Chickens were not as enthused as the Ducks...they mostly huddled in under the deck and watched the Ducks.

Ours aren't outside yet. still in the brooder in the garage. They just went about their business as usual.

I did clean out the brooder yesterday, and got the old stuff into the compost bin. Soaked it down and mixed it up with some other stuff that was there. Grass clipppings (from a co-worker-I don't have a lawn) will be added tomorrow.

We had a good soaking here too. The ladies didn't appreciate it but I loved it! Thunder and all!!

From our house we can look north towards the springs. It sure looked like you guys were getting hammered! Ours didn't start until after 8:30 PM, but it went on for hours.
