Dennarahl, im afraid prognosis for a prolasped hen isnt good. We took a SLW hen once & vet stated she'd likely prolaspe again...vet offered spaying hen at cost $600

I had to euthanize one of my babies when that happened to her.

I am maxed out.

106* in the shade at my place. We can see the fire from here, though it is nearly 25 miles away. On the way home from Mo's, we saw flames.

Too bad I don't have the 4 small pens completed. If I did i could take up to 20 additional. If the hen house was done I could take even more.

Does anyone have any familiarity with a prolapsed vent that has an egg in it? Anyone know of a vet near denver that can do chickens?

The closest avian vet I've heard recommended is Jerry LaBonde in Centennial. http://www.homestead-animal-hospital.com/

For self-help I'm sure you've read warm baths, Prep H, pushing it back in, etc. I haven't heard of a prolapse + egg bound though and it sounds rough. Maybe check out this description:

Just sent you an email. I saw this a bit late I'm sorry. I don't know if we can take any, maybe juveniles if they are small enough to stay in the house. We still just have chick feeders and waterers and no run yet. If you get desperate let me know and I'll see if we can do anything.
