Oh the love of technology!!!

yesterday my hubby got the video web cams hooked up inside the coop and outside in the run. Now I can check on my girls with my kids video monitor. It's soo fun, I am now checking on them all the time !:)
this picture shows all 4 cameras at once (the left- top/bottom are of my kids beds) and the right top is outside of the coop. I can see if the automatic door is up or down, and or if some chicky didn't make it in. the bottom right is inside the coop- I can see the roost and my 2 nesting boxes.

Here is outside the coop and Millie my buff Orpington is playing

Summer's Over....Back to School started today.

Can't wait to see my students.

She is the little Dominique. The EE and the other dominique just have typical chicken personalities but 49 is the sweetest. They have settled in wonderfully with my other ones but I guess being bigger helps a lot. :)

I have noticed that one of my hens has recently developed a nice red comb. My wife pulled out a few old plastic Easter Eggs about 2 weeks ago...we put 2 in each nest box. I have been checking the egg boxes each day since. I could tell that the boxes were being investigated but I was losing hope that we would see eggs anytime soon.

It was a nice surprise.

Awesome! Early indicators are that I have four hens and two roos. The big chicks have two feathering in rather quickly and the third, one of the reds, feathering in more slowly. And the beaks on two of my Silkie chicks are fairly curved while the third is almost straight edged. Beak sexing is 70% accurate with silkies, I just don't know from what age it works. :/

Why is it that when I think I have all the trim and "oops" paint splotches painted, and I wash the brush and put things away,. that I find more on that stupid hen house that needs paint?

Oh yah, and Narragansett turkeys think they need to investigate everything, including paint drops, paint brushes with paint on them, etc.
