Yep! I have had 3 hens all crammed into the same box. Hard on the eggs. It is especially bad when one of them goes broody and chooses the FAVORITE box of all!
Sometimes ya just have to wonder

noisy girls???
In the last 2 days my 3 girls have gotten louder. I have no idea why. When I go into the run they calm down and act all docile, but I am wondering if this new "vocalness" has something to do with being ready to lay soon? My dominique squats every time I try to pet her. Is this a sign that eggs are soon?

Yep! What I am going to guess is causing the noise... Egg song with encouragement from everyone else. It was hilarious when my girls were starting. One would go into the box and start fidgeting and clucking to herself and then the other two would start squawking twice as loud and acting excited.

Sunny got up to some egg shenanigans today. Have a look at this!

both of the broodies i've had did that. one would try to murder anyone who came in. the other wouldn't leave but the other girls crammed her into the back corner.

sounds like eggs to me. my girls always get quiet when i come in. they could lay an egg while i'm checking for eggs and they wont make a sound. when i'm not in the run though, man are they loud.
