The major reason we bred my two dogs this year is to get a litter that was chicken friendly. We easily found homes for them all and the feedback has been positive. We tried rescue dogs prior and went through 3 (had to send them back to the rescue and finally, I'm still out almost $500 in non-refundable 'adoption' fees) before I paid for puppies that didn't have a huge prey mentality. Ours do fine with the chickens although they do like chicken crap a lot. I have had to rescue 1 from my mastiff/lab mix. He wasn't eating her...he was licking her. By the time I got out there, she was soaking wet and not happy at all. My conure often is out of the cage in the house so I wonder if that has helped them not be chicken aggressive. She attacks back if they get too close.Thought I'd post this here in case anyone can/wants to help out. Hard enough to get a service dog, but then for it to be chicken friendly/neutral?
Just got the blood lab results......... Beth's Kidney function is back to normal!!!
Now to schedule chemo.....
So this morning my oldest daughter (21) texts me and asks which cockerel is missing his leg band. I tell her #11, why? She say that he got aggressive with he this morning. I ask what the circumstances were, and apparently she walked in to the run and he swiftly came up to her and pecked at her repeatedly. I told her to go back out and inform him he was not the dominant life form in the chicken run. So she did as I told her, and went back out and challenged HIS position. she chased him around and popped him on the head (not hurting him) a couple of times until he would avoid her like the plague! When I came home from work today I walked up to him quickly and he wouldn't even make eye contact. Hopefully it will cure him for a while..... The culprit
We also had some action in the yard yesterday evening...

11. But not with the other cockerels. #17 and #8 were the ones going at it, but it only lasted a few seconds. About long enough for me to take the photo.#11 is a beauty.
I hate the cock fighting. Can you tell which one is the most aggressive yet?
#23, the other one we are keeping, is pretty mellow. I wish now that I had kept #8 instead of selling him this Saturday.11. But not with the other cockerels. #17 and #8 were the ones going at it, but it only lasted a few seconds. About long enough for me to take the photo.
