I've asked before about this guy but he pops up on Craiglist every so often offering to take unwanted chickens, roosters, etc. He says he keeps them as pets. But I guess I'm suspicious. The only reason I ask is I was asked this last week to take a man's hens and couldn't. I just the number to my brother to follow up with.

Unwanted Chickens Wanted - $1 (El Paso County)

We are not one of those rescue places, but we are looking for free good healthy chickens to add to our family as PETS. We love to take care of chickens. Any type, breed, color, age, size roosters, hens or pullets. Please, call Joe anytime to schedule pick up. Thanks in advance and have a great week !!! Home 719-602-8024 or Cell 303-710-2665

On another note: I had to call the furnace repair guy today. My furnace went into alarm mode for the external ventilation system. Fingers crossed it won't be much.
Dont know if this is the same guy, but there was a Craigslist add warning people about someone who advertized to take chickens, goats, rabbits, etc and was butchering them. Apparently this was AFTER he told them they would not be butchered.

Integrity: tell the truth and abide by your word. Tell people up front, don't lie.

Thanks for the condolences, she was one of the first five chickens we got from the feed store. On the up side, the other hen seems to be doing better, knock on wood...
I don't know either but it seems to me if he has that many birds with roosters and hens he should be able to sustain his numbers without taking in unwanted birds. Fishy, very fishy. I did hear a while back that there was someone putting out an add like this then turning around and taking the birds to auction.

I was about to post the same thing, we met a lady on the east side of the springs with a yard full of poultry, said he takes them to the Calhan auction. Guess that's one way to make a living, kinda shady though. Also congratulations!

Hi. I'm in Denver and I have Austrolorps and Easter Eggers. A small flock of 5 hens. They have a Homesteading chicken swap the first Saturday of every month down on Santa Fe. Has anyone gone?

Welcome! I'd read about it but haven't been.

Hi Vanderlander! Welcome to BYC and the Colorado thread!
Yes I've gone, I bought a silkie there but it didn't make it, not anything to do with the breeder, just something got it. And it's a lot of fun. I especially love the Urban homestead market there too! They have an indoor bee hive it's very cool. I highly recommend it!

PS YAY FOR BOYS! I have 5 and 1 girl! They are a blast! All mine are gone but the last 2, 1 boy and 1 girl, both 15. 1 in the Army, 1 in the Navy, 1 in college and 1 is a ski bum up at Copper. Kids are ALMOST as awesome as Chickens, but the kids talk back. LOL :)

I highly recommend a visit there! It's SOOOO worth it! I got awesome heirloom seeds, jellies etc... on Sat there is more veggies etc. since farmer's markets are closed for winter.

I just PMd those on the Urch order the totals. I will send the order as soon as I have all payments, and I need to know if my March/April delivery request is okay with all - if you really don't want chicks until April or May please speak now, so we are all on the same page. I am flexible on delivery date, and it may or may not depend on when he has what we want available. To those who were thinking about it and have not spoken up, we are currently at 50 chicks, looking at probable March/April delivery. If you want to add, as long as we wind up with multiples of 25 we're good, can be mixed LF and Bantams, and if you want to put together a second order for May we can do that as well.
