Yah... I was looking into my crystal ball the other day, and saw the potential for needing one in a couple of years. If interest in the American Dominique continues to grow, in theory, I could be hatching chicks; one batch per week; for 6 months straight. ....... We'll see!LOL Same here - some day, huh?

This morning it was 33* inside the coop! Only got 4 dom eggs yesterday, and 1 EE egg.I think the shorter days are finally slowing them down.
so I'm not sure what was going on in their little brains.
Ahh the question of the century...![]()
Can we truly understand the chicken's brain......?

Read a lot of good things about the Brinseas too, so small though...
Someone commented on a review of incubators to wait on getting the turner, otherwise it'll drive you nuts not having anything to do but wait the first few times lol
I agree shorter days are affecting production, neither of my very reliable girls laid an egg yesterday - and they were all weirded out last night, didn't want to go into the coop at dusk, when they have been 100% reliable all this time. They don't much care for snow, but did walk through it to get their apple treats from Bob, pecked around in the grass where the snow had already gone away, but then at bedtime three of them were sitting on top of the old coop and one the porch and one wandering around outside the run - way past the time they would normally have gone in - not sure what was up with them. I opened both big doors and looked around in the coop, and nothing seemed amiss, so I'm not sure what was going on in their little brains.
Gooey stuff, I looked!Ahh the question of the century...![]()
