Hi BYC and Colorado BYCers
We are in Boulder CO, new to BYC, new to chickens, building the henhouse in the next couple weeks, getting the chicks in March/April, just going to have a few.
We've done our homework and will search BYC for additional advice, but any quick recommendations on where to get (and what to get) just a mix of 3 chicks (for egg laying)?
Just 3? Can you give us an idea of the dimensions and if it will be insulated as 3 may not be enough for winter cold?
I always make sure I have 2 of each breed and 5 to 6 for a minimum if it will be an uninsulated coop. Always plan on losing 10% of your flock just to stuff.... the common problem here is predators and this unknown thing called SCD, sudden chicken death.
