Colorado

Sounds like you are learning as you go, and that is the best way! Did you decide which domain name you wanted to use? Be sure to let us know when it makes its debut!!!! Are you trying to get a picture to show in the background of the print? Or in a certain area of the page? Did you go with GoDaddy's website? I had a hard time with that one!

I reserved both but am building under coloradochickens.com, and yes I went with the GoDaddy builder, so I'm kind of relieved I'm not the first to have had a hard time with it LOL. After I selected the framework, the top left block has a space for a title and then below that it says this space is for your background or photo, so I clicked there and then picked an image, and it pasted it in a lower block on the page, so I know I did it wrong. I'm trying not to get too hung up on that part, and decided when I go back to it I'll just work on the new pages and then let one of you more expert than I put the finishing touches on it. I don't think it has to be fancy so much as it has to be easy and intuitive to navigate, with obvious places to go for whatever you're visiting for. Then again, this is what I hope for from many pages I visit and it sometimes turns out what I think is obvious, isn't. Like, when I click on a page, I think it should be easy to get back to where I was, or to the home page, or to any other page on the site, but I've visited many websites where you could only either go back or return to the home page, which gets tedious when you want to visit several of the pages.

I guess what will come after structure is adding pictures, and I am woefully short on them, so I'm hoping as each member sets up his or her page more and more photos will be posted. I don't want anyone to think there is anything wrong with a particular approach to having chickens as long as we're caring for them properly. I have a coworker who has a few hens and plans to add a few more next spring, and is perfectly happy with his hatchery girls - in fact when I mentioned that is often the easiest way to get good layers, he said he doesn't even care about that, he just so enjoys spending time with them - very similar to what Mayah said about them being her therapy. I agree having them is very therapeutic, and often tell people there is something so deeply calming about just watching them be chickens. It's kind of like closing the door on a noisy room when I go out there and see them. Plus, it's just funny when they all start following us around thinking it MUST be time for an apple! :)

I'm placing some more of my green eggs in the incubator to be born, hopefully, on my birthday. These should all lay olive eggs as I suspect my silkie and frizzle roos still aren't able to do the deed.

I'm actually very grateful and happy to be at home tonight. I'm with all the things that I love the most. Had they not figured out the whole milkaggedon, i had planned on doing a marathon session of cheesemaking. But can now just relax on the couch with my dogs at my feet listening to some great modern classical music. Ohhh, and hopefully, I'll be awake to see the fireworks lit off in Manitou.

For those who celebrate NYEve, May the New Year bring you the courage to face whatever may come your way and the faith that the new day will always be brighter.

from your optimistic pessimist,
mayah

Is there anywhere on the page you are building it that says "header", That may be where you have to put that picture on the header somewhere. I have a GoDaddy account, I will go to it and check it out. Could it be that the picture is to big?

You should have an option when you add a link, that you can open it in a new page, or on the page you are on with a box that says return to previous page, but again, I am not familiar with Go Daddy. I too like the option to have the menu of pages on each page, so you can pick and choose where you go next.

x2! I don't feel like such a dud now. Last time I went out for New Years was Y2K in Raleigh, NC lol. There's been a number of them since then that we've slept through.

I don't know if I can name the last time I saw midnight ... on ANY night of the year :) I've been an early riser since my son was born, and he turned 21 last week (Christmas Eve - the resident on duty called him my Christmas miracle the day he was born). It might have had something to do with early morning being the only time I could get anything done LOL - either that or I'm just a born farmer.

This is my Microsoft 360 site, it is easy for me because it is the one I started with many years ago

OMG

Loki is STUNNING!

I mean, nice site, but OMG. That is a beautiful stallion. You have done WELL.

Falcon, just east of Colorado Springs. I looked it up when I got home and showed my wife, she rolled her eyes. Suffice it to say she's not quite as infatuated with chickens as I am lol

LOL turns out it is NOT on the car, it's on the fridge cause my husband is also, like, really? So OK, I'll wear the TSHIRT!

I am out in Centennial/Aurora so wouldn't have been me :)

We are fostering a few ladies this week for a newbie to CO who just moved from Texas, she brought the girls over today and they are all huddled up in the coop after the initial butt sniff they are all doing great! I'm glad got some extra feathers for warmth on this cold night.

Happy New Year's all!
