Adam7, have you gotten chicks from there before and had good luck? I saw their add on Craigslist and was considering ordering from them too.

Yea, all modern game bantams. I emailed them, I guess we'll see what they say tomorrow about it. I hope it's just a new employee or something explainable.

I've had a total of about 100 chicks from them and only two have had feet/leg issues and one with a crooked beak. The first was just crooked toes. They're really good about making things right. With my last order (they're about 3 weeks old now) I think the box was given too much ventilation so we had 11 deaths (out of 50 bantams), and they were really great about shipping more and making sure I was happy.

Were they all the same breed?

I have never bought chicks there before. I have only heard good things though. They come from several major hatcheries, Some one on here told me what ones exactly but I forgot.

Elizabeth country corner is a great little feed store. They also work with the Kiowa country corner on orders. I think they are the same owners. It was very easy to work with them and they are good about calling to let you know as soon as the chicks arrive. :)

Well, the weather is going to cooperate this weekend and all next week! When do your chicks arrive???

I expect them Tuesday morning. Dennarahl already has been raising bantams for me, which I need to get picked up, too, unless she's fallen hopelessly in love with them LOL. Bob thought he would get the floor done today but discovered two 12' floor joists had been shaved down to less than 5" (2x6 joists, which usually actually measure 5.5") so he spent some time rearranging attachment to the skids adding cedar fence pickets between the joists and skids in the two spots that were low, so it isn't done yet, but I am working from home tomorrow morning doing month end close and then should be able to get to work on the shed mid to late morning. With both of us here it should go faster, as long as we don't keep running into more problems.

I candled the Silkie eggs in the incubator, and of the 24 she sent, 11 appear to be viable, the rest are either duds or quitters, so tomorrow I'll remove the ones I'm sure aren't going to hatch. If the 11 that look good all hatch I'll be satisfied. Neither of the two Paint eggs are good, but a few each of the Lavenders, Buffs, and Porcelain and I think a Blue Splash and a White. I think. I knew I should have written it down. I will tomorrow when I take the hopeless ones out.

I am really looking forward to having chicks again. I have a couple projects at work and it's been really hard to focus on them the last week or so, all I can think about is chicks and the shed LOL. Once the shed is done and the first group of chicks arrives, and the ones in the 'bator hatch, I'll be able to focus a little better I think. Of course all I'll want to do then is sit out in the shed and stare at the chicks

The shed not getting here on time and giving us fits getting built has been the biggest problem.
