Poor Summer! Mr Molly is flat out harassing her now. They came out of the coop this morning and Mr Molly immediately started trying to impress her. Her bok bok kept getting suddenly louder. I look over and he is doing his fancy pants walk and is glued to her side. He'd try to mount and she'd run out from under him (insert the indignant, loud bok bok here). Then back to the glued to side thing. Bright side, it appears he doesn't crow while dancing with her. So no crowing this morning (so far). :)

If your in Co Springs, I'm going to get 8 chicks from the Elizabeth country corner on mar 1 or 2 and I wouldn't mind picking up some chicks for you and bringing them back. They have a really nice selection. Offer goes for any one else too. Make sure you get your preorders in so you get the chicks you want. My order is for the Mar 1 chicks available on their website so you would have to pick what's available that week. Their website is elizabethcountrycorner.com. They have everything that's available listed there.
this would be great. i just pulled up their site and they have so many. i can only get six.... which ones to chose...

So I'm getting chick fever pretty bad here!! My preferred hatchery is being poor on contact and one of the local feed stores emailed me a list of chicks they'll have available on the 22nd!! The only thing is they didn't list brahmas in the large fowl category and I really want normal sized brahmas. Does anyone know of a supplier in the Denver-metro area that will have brahma chicks available around the 22nd?

I'm looking at chicks and I'm thinking I will start with five. I have an 11 year old so nice chicks is important as this will be her and my venture together. I'm thinking barred Plymouth Rock, buff Orpington, black australorp, Rhode Island Red, and an araucana. We'd get one of each. Does that sound like a friendly good egg laying bunch? Thanks for your input!

I will be getting some buff brahma and RIR hatching eggs around the 6th, so hatch around the 27. They'd be s/r but they would be brahmas. PM me if your interested. :)

The list is awesome I know! I picked: 2 Americana, 2 Welsummer, 2 Cuckoo Marans, and to top it off 2 Gold Star.

I love love love the egg colors of the Americana, Welsummer and the Marans. I got the gold stars just to make sure I always have eggs as they are supposed to be amazing layers.

Someone may know more on this then me but most of the time I have heard people suggest you get at least 2 of each breed. I may be wrong on this though.

My lady @ Berthoud Feed is going to order today (& from now on). You should give her a call. I live a block away. Just talked to her cause I was looking for Pullets and her contact listed them, BUT they consider Pullets 1 day old hen chicks

.
So looks like I'm gonna have to get chicks. Pullets are just not happening for me!
