If the shell is zipped all the way around and the membrane is holding it together and turning white like it is drying out, I would help. A few snips of the membrane and chickie will probably be able to push its way on out. Membranes seem like they tend to dry out fairly easily here. I'm not a fan of helping too soon, but this little one may not be able to push the top off if the membrane is holding the shell still together and has dried out.

That was my fear as well, so I broke the dried strings of membrane and seconds later the chick was free and doing the chicky-flop, getting legs under itself and then resting. I added another wet cloth in a container and that boosted the humidity to 63%. Maybe that will help the rest. No new pips, the two last pips appear to have made progress, the second one does not.

Soooooo, I just candled. It's day 7. I have 16 with solid veining. I even saw movement in 1!!! He was doing the backstroke!! I have one I think has a blood ring, I will need to do more research to make sure and I have 1 that is infertile. I am bummed about the infertile one because it was an EE egg that was a very very unique cream color. I am going to leave the 2 questionables until day 10 and ill candle again to be sure. The one I suspect to be a blood ring was an extremely large egg that I probably shouldn't have set to begin with, it was large enough to be a double yolk.

But I am totally pumped about my results!! This means that every single one is developing!! In my homemade incubator to boot!!

I was so worried this being my first attempt with reputable eggs(last attempt was with store bought and all but one were infertile and I had one quitter)

Here's hoping for a great hatch!

got alot done today. After setting up the washer and dryer, which included a trip to Lowe's for some brackets. we started working on the pens. My older son helped, and we got ALL the pickets up on pens 3-4!. All that's left are the gates, the coop ramps, and the netting on top.

outstanding, These were the eggs from right down the street from my house, correct? I am glad they are cooperating for you this time. I made scrambled eggs the other night with 9 of my eggs a couple of days ago and all were fertle. So if you would like to try with some of mine sometime, you are welcome to. I may ask for a chick or two in trade though. Heres hoping you have a good hatch.
