A question for all of you hatching people...
My husband told me that an incubator is my valentines present. Woohoo! I think I want the gqf hovabator genesis. Is there anywhere in Colorado to pick one of those up or do they have to be ordered online? I'm ready to hatch some geese now.
Also, I have 6 narragansett turkeys and 4 broad breasted coming the first week of may. We only need 3 Narragansett and 1 broad breasted. If anyone is interested, I'll be selling the extras after I can tell boys from girls.
Can I ask why you've got marbles in the dish? I'm assuming it's the water dish?
I bought my 1588 through Amazon, I saw them on eBay as well. I bought mine as a hatcher so did not buy the turner, but I may buy one just so I have it as a backup for my incubator with turner. Seems to keep a very steady temp. I like the harder plastic shell on the Farm Innovators, but the thermo/hygro on the GQF lid actually works, which is really nice.A question for all of you hatching people...

Oops! I thought it was to keep them from falling in and drowning!I use marbles in the water dish for two reasons. One the chicks will see a shiny object and peck at them and then they realize its water. I do give them a drink about 24 to 48 hours after hatching by dunking their beaks. Secondly, I thing it helps prevent them getting into the water and getting wet 'cause they will chill very easily and die. This marble techniques really works with turkeys as well they love shiny things.
