So Fritzle found a home. She came and immediately fell in love with him. He just cuddled into her arms and fell asleep.

I'm so very happy as we all know how hard it is to find homes for roosters. I made sure the rehome fee was high enough. She was just so ecstatic. I'm going to miss him hanging out with me at night, roosting close to me and jumping into my lap at the first scary sound.

But there will be other roosters that may also need a home someday. Now I know that there are people willing to take a house rooster. Just make sure you get them use to diapers and being handled first. It made all the difference in the world that he was so easily handled and comfortable in my arms.
Wahoo!!! I am soooo happy for your little rooster !!!!

Is it possible that they got too cold during shipment? It's still shipment related stress but anytime I've ever lost a chick due to cold (not being in the midst of the huddle), there was little I could do after they started going downhill. Any updates?
I lost three total but everyone is looking good now. I called McMurray and they agreed that it sounded like shipping stress from getting too chilled at some point.

I now have a real computer and you guys are in trouble now........ Hi to all of the newbies and new chickies. How cool is that! I have new chickies myself, three we hatched here and 5 pullets from Hygiene Feed. (2 BO, BA, SLW, Ameracuna) The three from here are Mountaintop Mutts.
So Adam, you need to get quail eggs from James Marie and then sell me eggs from those birds and then I will be happy about trying to hatch some up here at this altitude. See, there is a reason for your windfall.

I'm so glad for all of you!

my cukoo maran doesn't have feathered legs

I'd have to go check their legs. My black marans have feathers. I know that marans can come with or without so haven't paid much attention. I know my black beauty does.

edit: So in checking, it does appear that cuckoo marans can have feathered legs. My black marans and 3 of my original cuckoo marans were from the Davis line. The rest are hatchery. So it appears that in certain lines of cuckoo marans they are feathered. I think that's awesome because now I may have another way to tell which cm had what babies. Right now I'm just hatching the darkest, prettiest of the marans eggs and the prettiest of the blue and green eggs.
