Mine peck each other from time to time, she might be exerting her dominance over the others. I would not worry unless she causes ovious harm to another.

Picture day - caveat - I am a terrible photographer.

This morning I picked up 80 chicks shipped from Cackle Hatchery, first order from them. Not a single DOA, all fine at the end of the day. First time ever with Egyptian Fayoumi, and OMG, they practically came out running! Beautiful chicks, and the essence of vigor. Sadly they did not notify me ahead of time that the Cuckoo Marans pullets would be shipped later. I am also posting pics of my hatched Silkie chicks, 4 week old pullets, and Buttercup, Delaware, and Speckled Sussex chicks just over a week old.

I think I would prefer the screw in. Less chance of leakage with pressure against them. But I guess that would depend on the application.

We bought the screw in type on ebay. They were about a dollar a nipple, and I think we got 10. My hubby used plumbers tape and wrapped it around the screw then screwed them in tight. They have been fantastic! We have 3 buckets. Two are 5 gallon buckets that have 4 nipples each, and then we have a one gallon bucket with one nipple inside the coop too. My little chicks are now using a rabbit water bottle and will peck at the shiny ball. I am soo glad because changing the waterer on the ground was becoming a pain.
