Colorado

Hi all I'm here in northern CO! Anyone raise call ducks?
Welcome ksp1 and all of the other new members! You can ask cluckcluckgirl for info on ducks. She has some for sale but not call ducks, but maybe she can get you a connection.

WendyGeisler -talk to coloradogal. She has 2 white marans as well that hatched.

We didn't even get that far - I mentioned it as a possibility and Bob said pulling them apart was much harder than I thought it was LOL. I wonder if they can be cut apart with a sawzall?

I have seen a couple examples of coops built from whole pallets but they were nicer and bigger pallets than I've ever seen around here.

I think I saw some success with various pallet projects when a sawzall was used.... Good luck!

Well I am finished with this hatch and ended up with 10 chicks out of 15 eggs. Not to bad for a second timer! :)
I had blue and black marans eggs and 2 of the chicks are white. One has stripes. The rest are black and blue.
Has anyone ever had a white marans ?
Here are some pictures...

I tried calling yesterday but I missed you. I had two white marans hatch. I have no idea how it happened or what in the genes caused that shift. All I know is they came out of my marans eggs. They are beautiful birds, one is male and one is female. The black/white babies are characteristic of what mine look like when they hatch.

I'm not sure if your white baby is white or yellow. Mine were ivory out of the shell. I've never had one come out yellow. Perhaps it will darken as it gets its adult feathers in?

But they are beautiful babies. Are these the ones from the mail? or local? if local, the lady from monument/black forest?

If it stays white, you should let me give you my two white ones and try for white marans, after we see how the eggs go. Mine are beautiful birds, even being so young. I was planning on keeping them for the white rooster in a few months.

edit: my whites.

I built mine out of about 90% pallet materials. Once you find nice pallets It's not that rough. I spent about a day or 2 just pulling them apart and stacking wood up.

Getting ready to actually start building my chicken run. Does anyone have recommendations on where to purchase hardware cloth? It's going to be our biggest expense but I want to make sure I'm getting good quality stuff to protect my flock without getting completely fleeced!! :D
