Had a Fox outside last night trying to eat a neighborhood cat! looks like their up, out, and hungry. I put my game cam looking at the coop to watch for them and examine their attempts to crack my coop. Hopefully I built a fox proof coop, only time will tell. We'll see if they get an interest in the chickens.
Not to worry, I got something special waiting for them if they get to aggressive.

Anyone know of anything I could us to deter them? The chickens are in lockdown in the coop at night.

We have had success with electrifying our fence. We have lost many chickens to the fox- i have her pic in my profile. She got greedy and took 4 at once one night. She even buried them in our chicken run... Since electrifying our run fence, we have not had a loss. I hope it stays that way!

Anyone interested in Buff Orphintons or Barred Rock? I found a guy who has 3 week olds and if purchase 50+ he's letting them go for $2.50 each otherwise $3. He's trying to make room for the next batch. I'd be willing to pick up and then meet anyone in Denver area. Anyone?

So, got a question, my chicks are now 6 weeks old on Friday. Do you guys think I can leave them outside? I've integrated them in with my other 4 chickens and turkey and they all get along just fine. They seem to be feathered out now also. Any opinions? They've been staying in the basement which doesn't get AS cold as outside, but it gets cold.

I have six weekers too. They spend their days in my secondary run and come in at night. Their carrier is their 'coop' so it is easy to get everyone in at night. They are loving it too! Tons of room to run around. I still need to put up the netting but no one can fly that high yet thankfully.

Yes! My EE gals have finally started laying again! They are getting older but sheesh! They stopped laying in October, gave me one token egg in January and now I finally am seeing eggs! That's SIX MONTHS. And now three in two days!

Congrats! Our Sultan and Silkie are laying on a regular basis now too, an egg each every other day. I think that means spring is upon us!!

They should be fine. We are not going to be getting any single digit temps and as long as there are no drafts, they are good to go.
