Hello, We raised a baby silver laced Wyandotte with a twisted beak like that. She was just a fat and healthy as all the other hens when she grew up. Most people didn't notice her beak was twisted, unless we pointed it out. She laid eggs and kept up with all the other hen just fine. We gave her away at 1 1/2 years of age to a good homeand only with the thought to improve our breeding stock. I'm not sure what the genetic chances are of the twisted beak happening again, but I do know that we hatched some of her eggs and none of her offspring inherited the problem. Good Luck finding her a home.
That's awesome that she lived so long. I am hopeful this gallives a long life, I just wasn't planning on raising any from this batch. She is eating like a champ. Every time I pick her up to check on her she demonstraights how well she's been eating.

She kinda has a grand old lady attitude. Once I pick her up she just holds still and holds her head up high. Even if I set her down in my little doctoring basket she just stands there looking regal until I pick her up again and put her back in the brooder.

I would love that chick!! All depends if I can clear up some space in our coop by selling the ducks.

I have a question, how popular are EEs in a swap? Do they sell alright, or barely?
When I was at the swap in Pueblo West some of the birds Pozees sold were EEs. I didn't see much else sell that day but parents and grandparents like getting them to amuse the kids with the different egg colors.

The pueblo west sweeneys is every 3rd Saturday. Earth dog Denver does the first Saturday of every month. I am working on setting up one here in the Springs on the third Saturday as well. I have to get some things straight first but I will get there!

Yes, the only sale I had was at the very end of the swap, a couple bought 3 White Leghorns and 2 Araucanas. Some adult chickens were sold by someone near us, and I think more rabbits than anything else were sold. It was chilly and breezy, and the same day St. Patrick's Day events were happening, so I am optimistically thinking it was not representative, time will tell I guess, assuming I make it to another one.

Is anyone going to the event Shy posted at the Fairgrounds on the 30th?

Hello all, and a big welcome to all the newbies....... This thread is busy, busy! Like reading about all the "Happenings" in Colorado.

My coop is completed, and next up, laying boxes, then a few grow out pens. Not sure how to incorporate them into the coop, but will work it out.

So nice to see everyone getting their coops up, and always fun to see pictures of baby chicks!
