Colorado

Hey all fellow Coloradoans! The weather hasn't been cooperating but today we shoveled some of the snow out of the way and finished all of the posts for our future coop and run. I was so excited that I thought I would share.

DH is taking this week off and since the boys will be on Spring Break, the hope is to get the coop and enclosure started and hopefully well on its way to being done. The girls in the brooder would love to have a nice place to stay once they are ready and the temperatures are good. You can see the barn and our horses in the background and the shed to the right of the future coop/run.

Yes, the only sale I had was at the very end of the swap, a couple bought 3 White Leghorns and 2 Araucanas. Some adult chickens were sold by someone near us, and I think more rabbits than anything else were sold. It was chilly and breezy, and the same day St. Patrick's Day events were happening, so I am optimistically thinking it was not representative, time will tell I guess, assuming I make it to another one.

Is anyone going to the event Shy posted at the Fairgrounds on the 30th?
I am going and have permission to sell my chicks.

Suncatcher- It's a 4H event, lots of classes. :)

If anyone is interested in pet quality silkie chicks, I have 9 available. They're 3 weeks old or less. They have wrong # of toes or color for me to keep to breed. A variety of colors: splash (green marker on them), buff, porcelain and off color blue. $5 each. PM if interested

Just a hello from snowy Canon City, Colorado. I know I joined a couple years ago but couldn't find my membership, so I have started over. I have RIRs, Buff Brahmas and Black Australorps, 36 in all. I have 41 eggs in an incubator right now and 12 due to be mailed from Welp on April 3. No one warned me this would be an addiction.

So thankful that my husband shoveled out the area for the coop to thaw yesterday. :) Maybe I'll be able to build a structure before my girls are too big and drive me crazy?!

Good luck! When I first got my chicks DH had a month warning before the chicks shipped and eight weeks after before I planned to put them out. He finished the coop at about 10 weeks.

Or was it 12 weeks?

Anycase, best of luck!

Ah, I was not sure if it was the Homestead event, or something else...... Wow, bet you will sell all your chicks that day!!
I sure am hoping so! I need to make room for the next batch and I had 8 reserved chicks from my youngest batch canceled. Six more and the whole batch will fit into one brooder. More and they will have PLENTY of room to grow. Only two will be staying behind, the crossbeak Houdan, spoken for by cluckcluckgirl, and my salmon Favorolles (unless there is a sudden change and her/his eye problem corrects itself). I have been treating the Favorolles and s/he is getting better but it may not be 100% by Saturday and I am not going to try and sell a chick still needing care.
