Quote: Well, if my reading skills were better, I would have seen the LF on your original post! Ideal has the bantam SL cochins, of course you will have to buy 25 of them!
Quote: Yep, my girl did not have all her white to begin with, but after her first molt is when it started coming in. Love your girl, very nice!!! She will get more white after she molts.
Thanks jgurshtein!
For six week olds, I think that roost may be a bit high, hard to say from the pic. We usually leave the feeder and waterer inside the coop, but they're free to come and go so they have access to it at all times. I think when it gets hotter it might be more important to have more water sources available. I've always read that nesting boxes should generally be lower than roosts. We've been using five gallon buckets with part of the lid cut out laid on their sides on the ground, chooks seem to like it fine.First ever batch of ff is done. I'm going to let the girls try it tonight. So like I've said I moved the girls from the laundry to the garage last week. The coop is secure but the run isn't secure yet. Is it ok to go ahead and move the girls outside to the new coop now? 6 weeks old. I will get the run secured this weekend. Next question do you hang your nesting boxes or leave them at ground level? Do you put food and water in the coop and in the run? Is my roost to high? They LOVE being outside
Awesome! We're hoping to have some broodies at some point. There are little peeping sounds coming from under Chrissy, who has been brooding for 21 daysNow what???
This will be the first hatch - ever. Out of 11 eggs I can only distinguish 1 peep so far.![]()
She's in the dog crate in the back of her own little run in the coop. P
