Colorado

How did everyone survive the wind and snow?

We had sustained winds in the 40-60 MPH range for over 24 hours. Got a little fence gate damage, found the missing barrel, and no shingles abandoned us.

The poults survived their bout with the cold, and are still in the house until tomorrow.

I LOVE Amazon! but you do have to pay attention with shipping, etc.

We hope to have some Dominique chicks at ChickenFest!

I survived but now I need to clean up the back yard when DS takes his nap. There is a bunch of random trash back there now. My yard is in a wind/garbage nexus. :/

Margie- Shy breeds silkies and bantam Cochins. She has several different colors, wish I had had a chance to chat with her at that swap.

Hi from Northern Colorado. Don't have anything but a coop in a box at the moment. Still working on getting our permit. A little terrified and a lot excited!
Yay!!! Welcome!

We are in Fort Collins, how about yourself? We have 3 day old chicks right now, and are hopefully going to get our permit today! Are you having issues with getting your permit through?

Definitely agree with that one. Here in Fort Collins, it helps to protect the chickens more than anything. Makes sure they have enough room and are protected from predators. I guess I can go for that...

Lots of towns now require permits...Fountain did it a year or two ago. I'm glad I am out in the county and don't have to worry about that!

Canon City approved hens with a permit just a few months ago. $100 for permit, 8 hens allowed. Man am I happy we are in the county. But our next door neighbor is city. Can you imagine having 50 acres and not be allowed to have chickens? That was the case until a few months ago. I just don't understand. We are a rural agricultural area. Shaking my head.

I hope that's a "one-time" permt.......

LOL! Yes, we have to get a permit to keep backyard chickens in this municipality (Windsor, CO). We first have to get approval from a neighbors because the coop will be place within 15 feet of the property line. We have a weird shaped property and there really isn't anywhere else to put it. I don't anticipate any problems but just in case i don't want to get any chicks before our neighbor approves the plan.

Thanks! I'm in Windsor. Not having issues yet. We have to get approval from a neighbor because the coop will be too close to the property line. I'm pretty sure she'll say yes, just can't seem to catch her at home.

I'm guessing that there are other here but haven't a clue. Is there a time when it's too late to get chicks for this year?
