I've never had a Blue Slate. I think that's what Chirstie Godsey raises.... Maybe she does Royal Palm. I don't know.....

Your run is covered right? Last fall while Beth was hospitalized, our female Narry poult flew over our 6 ft fence and committed suicide. The dogs in the back yard had her before she hit the ground. The Tom tried it a few weeks later, but we saved him, only to process him a couple of weeks later.

Update here, my 6 Cornish Roasters are growing fast. In self defense against the reek and mess I am now putting them outside during the day. They will probably be staying out 100% starting Monday. They actually kinda freak me out with how big they already are compared to the others in the brooder and they grow SLOWER than the Cornish Xs. They have rubbed the feathers off of their chests with their love for the feeder. I think I will try something different for a meatie next time. I don't mind if it takes a bit longer for them to develop so long as I can harvest before the crowing starts. Anyone have recommendations?

Yes, try looking into Freedom Rangers. IMHO they are way better than Cornish. Still messy and grow fast, but not nearly as bad. I will never do Cornish again.

You can always leave a note with your contact info. Goats don't do well on their own, they are easy prey for dogs too.

So the guy at the end of the road got foreclosed on.  Almost everything is gone, including his animals (chickens, pigs, dogs, ducks, geese) except 1 goat. Would it be wrong for me to go and just take him? 

If no one s there to take care of the animal, I would think it wrong not to care for it and provide it a home. The first rule of animal husbandry is a moral obligation to the health of the animals that we keep.

I'm finally done hatching Welsummers LF and Black mottled Cochin bantams for the year. My DH's comment, really are you sure? You mean you are turning off the incubators?? My last bunch finished hatching on Tuesday. I ended up with 14 Welsummers and 15 Cochins. The ratio on Welsummers is 6 males and 8 females. Cochins - who knows? Only time will tell.
