So I noticed in my rundown I forgot to mention the Speckled Sussex juveniles. I have the adult hens from the hatchery I had last year, then 2 pullets and 3 cockerels left of the chicks I got from Tony Albritton this spring. As with the RIR, I want to keep a main and a backup male, and it will be a while before I have it narrowed down, these are big and slow maturing birds. The 7 are all together and seem to be doing fine so far. Pretty pretty. One of these days I have to make time to get the camera out there and snap some pictures.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
), some family obligations, and trying getting everything ready for the girls to come home, I miss them so much. How are my girls holding up, still not eating grass?
