I now have the foundation frame in for the greenhouse! My wife helped me out a lot yesterday and we finished it it. Now i just need the concrete this week. The bad news is i cut my hand open today with a box cutter and spent some time in emergy care. I got 8 stitches and was told mot to use the hand for a week to ten days. That puts the project on hold for a couple of weeks as i dont want to tear it back open again, like i already did once since i have been home today. Anyway here is a pic of the foundation frame as it sits right now.

I have two quail laying right now out of five and the chickens are off antibiotics. The chickens have slowed way down on laying eggs. I don't know weather it is do to the antibiotics or molting however. Oh well, life goes on. More updates once the concrete is poured or the chickens an quail are laying better. Everyone stay safe.

So safeguard is the same as Valbazen? Looks to be the same dosing too. I've decided to worm this year, and now seems to be a good time, since my egg count has gone way down. Which stores carry either of these? I checked big r and they had neither.
It isn't the same, no, and some people alternate between the two if they have worm problems. If you aren't sure whether you have worms in the flock, you can contact your vet to see if they will examine a fecal sample for you, there will be a fee but no more than a bottle of wormer and probably a lot less. It's just that as a wormer that will get most of what might ail your birds, Safeguard is a good one and not as expensive as Valbazen.

I'm surprised Big R didn't have them, they had both at the store down here in Pueblo. I ordered Safeguard through Amazon along with a box of 1 cc syringes, since they didn't have the syringes at Big R. I don't know if pharmacies will sell you the syringes (without needles), at one time they would, then they wouldn't, but now I think they will again.

I am unclear how prevalent worms are in CO - I know when I moved here from NY I was amazed at how no one here had fleas, and rabies was unheard of the previous 20 years (the last few years there have been some animals with rabies so that's changed) - due to the lack of humidity - but roundworms were still present in puppies and I wormed my dogs regularly, so I assume there's as much chance as not that the birds have some types of internal parasite load, hopefully kept mainly in check by good care and nutrition.

I bought the Safeguard but haven't used it yet, I am with you though, this is a good time since egg production has dropped off with onset of shorter days and molt. I have postponed for a few weeks until the chicks under the Silkie hens are a bit older, but probably the weekend after I get back from AZ I'll go ahead and worm everyone. I won't worm the chicks, just the adults, but while the chicks are still young the hens are somewhat irritable and I don't want to stir them up.

HELP!

My neighbors bought their 15 year old son an American Pitbull Terrier (a true bluenose). Turns out neither the son, nor the family have the time nor the inclination to spend the time necessary to train him, so now they are about to surrender him to the Humane Society. He is now 6 months old. I have been babysitting for him a day or two a week, and he is such a sweetheart. All he wants is attention and love. But he is a big, strong dog. Does anyone have a home to offer him?

Chances are he will be picked up by the Pitbull rescue because he is so young. Maybe you could call them.

Well I went again yesterday, and found the Safeguard paste. I wasn't sure dosage on it though, so didn't buy it. I was thinking its a good idea to have there poo looked at first...although it's pretty nasty right now since I stopped the FF a week ago. Nasty enough that I'm thinking of restarting the FF, even though it's killing my shoulder dragging the buckets around.
I did just buy the Naturewise Feather Fixer, hoping it helps my older girls, they're looking pretty raggedy.

Anyone interested in some serama cockerals? There are 2 that are how quality and two that would make great pets! These are gorgeous friendly birds and are priced to sell or free to a good home! Please spread the word and let me know!

Ashdoes, I just stopped FF too, about two weeks ago, and have decided to stay with dry for now because I'm out of town next week and chicken chores are up to Bob - dry feed is much easier for him to manage. I also am having shoulder issues and had already been using three smaller vessels, so I'm hoping the little bit of a break from FF will help. Once they had been off FF for a week the droppings returned to normal. Last weekend I soaked some whole grains and alfalfa pellets for a couple of hours and gave it as a treat, and OMG, they vacuumed it up! Hopefully your shoulder will feel better soon, they seem to take forever to get better.

I don't know anything about the Safeguard paste, unfortunately.

Does anyone know of anyone selling any seramas, d'anvers, silkies, or modern game bantam chicks right now? I need a friend for a lone chick I have...

Hello fellow Colorado folks! I haven't been on here in awhile, but I sure have been busy. I've been working on a breeding project of Black Java x Jersey Giants and have a bunch of cockerels that are just amazingly gorgeous (super crazy green and purple shine on the black ones). I figured I would give any of you the opportunity to pick up one of these beauties if you're looking for a really high quality and beautiful rooster. If not, they'll most likely end up as dinner.

Also, if you're interested I just created a new Facebook page and website for my little farm (work in progress) here in Calhan. If you'd like to give me a 'like' on Facebook that would be awesome!
