I'm having trouble finding some information for El Paso county regulations on providing shelter for horses. Does anyone have any helpful info on that, or know of a number to call?
I've spoken to one person and she said there is no law, and no requirement for shelter. Then two weeks later, I was told of course shelter is required.
I would think, for colorado weather, shelter is necessary, but I could be wrong.

There are no structure requirements for horse shelters in CO.

I'm leaning towards that being the answer. It's sad, because of the winds and temps out here, but if there's no legal requirement we'll let it drop. This was questioned by neighbors here after one of the homeowners put up a wire corral, and put two horses in it. Thanks

States that do have shelter requirements were usually nothing more than a tree or a berm to break the wind. Not a roofed structure.

Have your neighbors keep an eye on the horses weight, they will drop a ton of weight if they are not being fed enough calories to keep themselves warm, without any type of wind break or shelter, they need a lot more food. Hopefully the owners will put up at least a wall of some sort, as we have our coldest temps still coming up.

Good idea. Sometimes the horses are gone, then they come back. I'm hoping maybe they board them somewhere, and just bring them back for short visits. I haven't kept a close eye on it, because like me, they probable moved here to get away from nosey neighbors.

Speaking of wind, what a season it is so far. It blew over DH's motorcycle that was tarped and up on a stand yesterday and we have also lost two trees this fall. Ridiculous I say! This year's chickens seem to be coming to grips with it and have stopped taking it personally. LOL!

I took pics a couple days ago but am just now getting around to taking them off my phone.

It was interesting that they stayed huddled together. Usually when they are out they are all spread out. I took multiple pics and they were always in this tight group. I couldn't get any individual photos of these girls.

Nice looking birds even though the one crest is a little lopsided now. I guess she really wanted to get warm. Wouldn't want to see her running around with her head on fire though. It looks like she forgot to do her hair after a rough night out on the town. Lol
I picked up a white silky roo over the weekend. I will mate him with my black silky hen once he is integrated into the flock and then see about hatching the eggs and see what color combinations i get. One thing for sure is, they will be small and cute.

well i went to illinois last summer and went in one of their stores in person, which is like a big r, and in person their prices are far lower, im not sure if there is a difference in price on their website tho
