Pozee do you still have your website? Just tried loooking at it and it took me to the GoDaddy website page????

Sorry meant to answer earlier - I don't, but will get it back up and running soon, just got behind taking care of chicks and work and all the etc. we all seem to have in our lives :)

I had never heard of bresse chickens. I googled some images and it definitely looks like their main purpose is eating. I'm curious why they leave the heads on them though. I've never seen a dressed out chicken with the head still on it.

If you are successful and hatching them I would be very interested to get some fertile eggs from you in a year or two. ;)

Pozees if you are looking for leghons, I could give you some hatching eggs from my leghorn hen. My main rooster is a leghorn. He is a big guy. His comb isn't near as large as it used to be however, due to frostbite. Just let me know and I will start saving those for you. I have more than enough eggs in the fridge at the moment.

I would love that! Thank you! I set eggs every Saturday and occasionally a set midweek if I have shipped eggs I don't want to hold over. Let me know a convenient day/time and I will GLADLY pick them up from you!

I will let you know when I get half a dozen or so saved up. Probably by next Friday afternoon. I have two in the win-o-bator at the moment. They are developing nicely. I started out with 4, but two were not fertile. You would definitely get a white chicken out of them. The roo and hen are both white. She lays some big eggs. Generally around 62 to 67 grams.

I don't. My dad was stationed in Paris when we were kids and french chicken is nothing like American chicken. My sister and I have been on a quest to figure out what it is about their chickens and start raising them here.

French markets tend to leave the head and feet on their chickens. (feet on their rabbits too)

Oh, of course, I'm sorry! Your avatar reminds me of Suncatcher's and I'm easily confused these days .. well, all days :) Are they pretty calm? I hope I get some to hatch, I know little about them except that they are very pretty and lay dark brown eggs - which to me means I probably won't be able to see anything but the air cell growing when candling. I don't think they are very common which surprises me, as everyone who has them says they like them very much. Are they decent layers?
You know, I looked at both avatars and thought of that! No, you will not be able to see much growing, they definitely need to stay in the bator the whole time. They are decent layers. Some of mine lay better than others. Some are solid terra cotta colored and others are lighter with dark speckles. The eggs do lighten throughout the laying season. A couple of my hens are super noisy, but most aren't. The noisy ones seem to be more hyper, but most of them are pretty calm. Much more so than my ameraucanas.

Oh how interesting! How is French chicken different, is it the flavor of the meat, or the tenderness/chewiness, or something else? I have read that many European countries have particular breeds they tout as the best for meat - England has the Sussex for example - I think it is sad that what we have come to know is the Cornish X, that has to be processed at 8 weeks or they start to die because their legs cannot support their weight.

Did you see a difference between the hatchery version and the ones you bought from Whitmore?
