Colorado

Looking for hatching to start tomorrow or Sunday!

We're on day 21 today. We have one internal pip. Hoping it does more than that tonight and the other 3 follow. We have eggs from Suncatcher and Pozees to put in the bator!

We also picked up 9 chicks today! 1 EE, 1 SLW, 2 D'Anver, 4 frizzle cochin bantam, and 1 Buff silkie.

Blu Kote. Now you've got me looking that up.

Every day I learn something on this blog. Every S-i-n-g-l-e day!

And that Peck No More? I think it's actually soaked into my nasal membranes...will the smell ever leave me?

:)

Well, at least you aren't getting pecked on......

Blu Kote is the best stuff for hiding wounds and red areas, but be warned, you will look like a Smurf! Old clothes and long elbow length gloves highly recommended!

Boy, is that ever true. Why can't that stuff just go where you spray it and not all over the chicken and you? BTW, finger nail polish remover takes it off of your hands.

We had 0 hatch. :( The one that pipped internally died during the night and the other 3 didn't do anything.
I moved the incubator, made a couple tweeks to it, and set the local eggs. Hoping for a much better hatch rate with those.

On the good side the chicks we picked up from Kiowa yesterday all made it through the night and seem to be doing well. :)

I am going to build another brooder tonight because when we get the 20+ chicks from Meyer they won't all fit under the eco-glow.

Bummer on the zero hatch.  Been there, done that, it never stops being a bummer.

X2, Been there and done that too....... so sorry you did not have even one hatch, I was so hoping at least three or four would make it! :hugs Just keep plugging away, setting eggs from local source will help. What are you keeping humidity at? Glad your Kiowa crew is doing well! They really have some healthy birds, even if they are hatchery stock, they are laying fools!

Ha! At least my NOSE isn't getting pecked!

Can't wait to deal with Blu Kote. I'm already covered with straw from having to bellycrawl under the coop for the one hen's eggs who INSISTS on laying under there. Peck No More in my nose. Chicken poop ground into my Bogs. Dirt of unknown origin under my fingernails. Mealworms in my coat pockets. What's a little Smurf tint?

I feel like I could walk into a party and a stranger could say "Oh, I see you have chickens."

But I'm having a blast, for sure!
