How windy is for everybody today?  I nearly lost my back fence today due to a rotten fence post.  I tied it off to my kids' swingset and I'm hoping that the wind either stops or just keeps coming from the north.  If it comes from the south, I'm going to lose it.  Off to Lowes to buy some lumber.  Ugh!

At least the chickens had the good sense to stay inside and lay lots of eggs today.  Yesterday I got one from the six girls and today I got five.

Winds between 30-50 MPH. right now at our place.

Winds are gusting here too, a few snow flakes here and there, nothing sticking.... yet! Chickens are out doing their thing, but staying close to buildings, and the barn. Wind is from the North, and North West, and very chilly!

Mine have picked up on laying too, but then on days like today, they taper off. So ready for some permanent warmer weather! Did see some green in the pasture, so looks like we may have grass early this year.

ETA, Forecast is for wind gusts up to 30mph here today.

Welcome, welcome back, and hi to the OT

Windy here in Boulder today. I am so sick of extreme weather.
My chickens don't seem to mind. My egg laying is picking up too. There is a restaurant in town that wants 9 dozen eggs for a brunch they are doing Sunday, so the girls better keep focused and preform!

I have a chick order coming the first week of April from Meyer and I keep changing what I want. They change the availability of the chicks as the hatch date draws nearer and they can see how successful the hatch will be. They didn't have any Marans available when I first ordered and now they have 3 pullets from their Marans collections....so I added those to my order. They also had 1 white crested polish pullet available now, so I added that one to go with the golden and silver laced polish I had coming.
I've never had chicks shipped, so this is a first for me. I am really hoping things go well. I think I"ll need therapy if there are any/many DOA.

Stay warm and grounded everyone.

Wind was awful both here and at work the last two days. We closed both landfills early both days, and have days worth of work for the laborers getting things cleaned up. I sure would like for the wind to go away or at least lighten up considerably.

I have the Bantam Surprise chicks hatching already - due tomorrow, last check 2 were out and several pipped. Also have some of my own Silkies and RIR in there, and even a couple of my Silkie eggs are pipped, although it isn't unusual for them to pip on Day 20. The Bantam Surprise eggs came from a really neat woman in Westcliffe - she brought me 48 eggs on a sometimes bumpy ride, met me at work, then they had the ride from work to home. I put 38 of them into the hatcher Sunday night. Can you say, Chick Sale?! I already have chicks that have hatched the last 3 weeks that I just put a sale price on, on my Craigslist ad, and will update the pricing on my BYC ad as well.

I have been on pins and needles all day, waiting for a pair of Ameraucanas from Doc that were supposed to have been here by noon today, so far no one at the USPS can tell me what happened to them after they left the sort facility in Grand Junction last night at 5:06 pm. Very worried.

Looking forward to updates and pictures on your Bantam Surprise hatch!!! Wind has finally died down here, but blew and blew all day long.

I hope they are at least being given water! I know they are not supposed to, but would think they could break the rules if the animal is in transit longer than it is supposed to be. I know some people who ship with fermented feed in with the bigger chickens, makes sense! :hugs

When should expect hatching of the Domin-eggers?
