Colorado

September I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know someone in Falcon who has been trying to rehome a pair of Pekins (large) and an extra female (don't know the breed) for over a year now, if that would interest you let me know and I will try to put you in touch.
Thanks Pozees. I'm trying to get a Khaki because they were such good egg layers, and a good size for my Ancona drake. But thanks for the thought. :)

Me too. I hope she's doing ok. My daughter is looking after her today while I'm in South Carolina. I can't get a hold of her so I don't know if she's being diligent in showing her the water. She is with another chick so hopefully she'll just follow along. I think we'll probably run out to Murdoch's tomorrow and get her a friend more her size if they have any.

Speaking of chicks under broodys. I have noticed that our chicks under the Brinsea venture out and wander a lot less than those with a heat lamp. We had 2 brooders setup this year with one of each and I worried about the brinsea chicks because they weren't running around and eating and drinking like crazy like the other ones. I think they were just acting more like a real broody though. It should be noted we lost only 1 of the chicks under the brinsea (unless they were brought over from the other brooder because they weren't acting well) and we lost a lot in the other brooder.

We have the Eco-Glow as well, and noticed the chicks are less active till about a week old. I think it's more natural for them, like with a broody. No lights to keep them up constantly, which is why they seem to be so active.

I have 3 eco glow and love them and now I got one from premier 1 witch will be use pretty soon so I can see witch one I like better.
Thanks for your replies about putting the babies in the colorado eggs sell thread.
As soon as I receive them I will put them on there with pics.

Hi..another Coloradoan here...ya'al are mostly up North..I live down south! South of Pueblo..towards the Greenhorn Mtns.
Got a small place with just a few critters & me & an ole grumpy feller.
Just restocked my flock & getting started..soon as I make Mama Kitty realize the chicks are NOT cat food! Actually as they are growing she is showing less & less interest in them. Twas only in the "tiny chick" phase that she expressed interest..plus the geese are a bit of a keep away as well.

So am waiting to see what I got ..had purchased a straight run of 10..suspect 4 roosters.. then 6 Buff Orph. supposed to be pullets.
All are not quite a month old..growing rapidly , as they do. No idea yet what my geese are..will know when they get a bit larger.
They are all the same age...this summer will be fun. Last year had cleared out my flock & rabbits & all cause I was thinking to travel.
Well with fuel prices..nope that ain't happening.

Here's to a fun summer!!!
