GQF sent me the replacement lid for the Genesis 1588, after the last defective one cooked my chicks. My hatch with the new unit was 36/45, 80%. Eggtopsy showed 5 fully developed chicks that never pipped, 1 that internally pipped but was very malpositioned, and 4 early quitters. It's so nice to have so much chirping on Easter Day.
Yay! That is wonderful to hear, after your last hatch ended so horribly.

Welcome to our new members, and congratulations Euarto on a MUCH better hatch! My Easter hatch was 35 hatched out of 79 set, 57 to hatcher, mainly shipped eggs. I set 12 of wsmith's Dominique eggs and all 12 hatched, first 100% I've ever had, I don't even get that with my own eggs! Here is the breakdown:

H/L/S Breed Set To Hatcher % Hatched &H of set %H of V

Greetings old and new alike.

I'm in the market [willing to purchase] for a new hen. Had to re home one of my 4 due to the fact she was a bit too noisy for our urban environment. Ideally, looking for one old enough I won't have too much issue with integration...thinking couple months to a year old. Wish list... EE, blue laced lan, Polish, speckled Sussex just to name a few... my other 3 are plain Janes and going for a bit more "showy" this go round.

I'm in CS proper, but will drive a good way for a nice bird.

Thanks

I think one of the reasons the DE have a lower hatch is that Ishmael has too many hens to "take care of"... LOL. He's running himself ragged.

Hi Colorado poultry lovers! I have had a hard time with shipped eggs, and I think that there is an elevation factor besides the USPS issues. I live in Montana, and I would like to connect up with some higher elevation (3500-6500 ft) poultry raisers and see their eggs hatch better for me. I only do pure-breeds. I am looking for Crested Cream Legbar eggs, Ameraucana, Wellsummer, Orpingtons, and a number of others. Will consider almost any type. Also turkeys and ducks. Anyone willing to work with me on this?
I also have some breeds if you are interested in a trade. Thanks!
