Colorado

Wow. Sounds kind of random!! Nothing but some wind and hot weather here..

Hummmm, familiar by what you mean by wind, but hot weather? Never heard of it (at least in recent memory!)

So I am sitting here listening to the thunder and just waiting. I have walled off my psycho broody and maybe this time she will just chill on the eggs and be a successful chickie momma. Dug up some raspberry starts that keep trying to take over everything. I am not sure how they would do down below, but if anyone wants wild raspberry plants, just let me know. Brewed up some coffee cause the temp is dropping and who knows, the power might go out and then what is a girl to do in the am? Cook on the fire again I guess. I hope everyone has a safe day with the possible hail, tornadoes and heavy rain predicted.

My wife and i got a digital remote weather station thing for my yougest since she is facinated with the weather. The remote thermometer was on the west facing deck and it read 114 yesterday. That was in the direct sun however. I really need to get an awning attached to the house above the deck but im afraid that our wonderfull wind will just tear it off.
I have been busy laying the cinder block walls for the 16x24 foot greenhouse/shed i am building. I hope to be done by this fall. Fresh tomatoes in febuary sound pretty good to me.
My quail are doing well since i removed the abusive male and replaced him with another. The abusive one killed 4 of my females. He is now going to be a meal once i process a few more males. I have 12 in the home made wine fridge incubator at the moment. 6 have piped. I am just waiting for the zipping to start.
Mtnmaggie, if i get up you way i may just have to take you up on a few of those rasberry plants. I could place them on my trail to the creek. They may grow well there. Partial shade and plenty of water around there. I have blackberries and some rasberries of my own i need to get in the ground down there anyway. This will add to the goosberries and the overabundance of wild hopps that grows there also.
What is a good use of hopps besides home made beer?

I'm offering started Norwegian Jaerhon chicks for sale ~ $12 ea.

I *really* love my Scandinavian flock! They are wonderful foragers on our high Colorado forest farm, just a very hardy cold-climate layer. Being a light-weight, agile and alert breed, they are talented at evading predators. *Note: They do not fit in well in the 'burbs (unless fenced well) on account of being able to fly.

Eggs are a creamy white and fairly large in size, some of them as large as a Marans' egg!

Jaerhons are easily color-sexed at birth. I am able to offer pullet-only groups at this time, but I do have some handsome cockerels, as well!

I travel around the Western Slope quite a bit and will also be in the Denver area in early June, so delivery is often an option, just ask....

Mtn Margie, I would be happy to receive some wild raspberry plants & see how they'll do at 7300 ft.

I definitely have a few Roos. There is one barred rock, one red leghorn, and one Silver Grey Dorking. I need them gone very soon. They are all 8 weeks old and vaccinated for Mareks & Coccidosis. They are from McMurray. I'm out off 76 north of Hudson.

Wow, a Colorado NJ breeder, how wonderful! No room right now, but I would be interested down the road. By any chance are you NPIP certified?

OK, since the subject has been broached, I've tried to find out what NPIP is, what use it serves, and how to go about it. I got as far as a govt website that was less than useless, and gave up. Could either of you please explain a bit for us newbs? Thanks in advance.
