Cochix- so funny!! My rooster is so good with his ladies. Now that everyone is getting close or already laying, dandelions leaves, marigold petals and sprouted boss seeds get everyone clamoring for them. Sprouted boss seeds are better than mealworms to my chickens, as it's the only time their pecking gets a bit bitey. I put a new batch at the gate into the new enclosed chicken run and threw the brooder box pine shavings deep litter method onto them and wetted it down.
Yeah this morning I was "Winter is coming!" & 'oh no, is it going to be too cold to put these 5 little chicks I just got outside in a month or are they going to be in the barn in brooder boxes for a month or two?' Thinking in my head, taking into account my atrocious chicken math, my bf's seeming willingness to buy into whatever new chicken/garden/homsteading quasi planned but mostly just doing as much as I can to get ready to really get next summer ready.
Blanching tomato branches? Do tell more!! My tomatoes are going nuts!! I'm needing to find vintage canning jars, b/c I bought some recently and I put ice water in one and it cracked!! So IDK if it would be wise to try actually canning in these jars.
Does anyone in CO have any extra vintage canning jars they're wanting to trade for tomatoes/chickens? Lol
