This is in the oven now a gluten-free angel food cake from the eggs my hens laid in the last 2 days or so.

I do not use lighting.
The chicks will be just fine under the broody hen.
The 6 wk olds will be fine in the coop as well. You can just add more bedding if you think they need it.
The farmers market will have garlic and you can try CL.
DK - looks lovely.

Ok things are screwed up, I keep clicking on quote to respond, but nothing is happening. Thank you all for weighing in on then lighting issue, seems like a lot of us believe in the natural approach to this process.

DK - you dinner and dessert looked yummy! Perfect night for roast.

Here is round 2 on the peach front. My dear bf made a gluten free crisp with brown rice syrup and we devoured it last night and tonight.

I made - a batch of peach, fresh roasted chiles from our garden, caramelized red onion, spice all in a pot into a super chunky peach sauce. It was hot bathed and now will be stored for lots of yummy dinners during the cold months. Can't wait to try on fish, pork, chicken, etc...

I also made two jars of peach, caramelized onion and Lavender from our garden sauce.

We got 1 inch of snow, currently 25 with a low of 23. Gardening is over! Boo Hoo! Everything possible is in my living room until it gets sorted out. Start the spearmint, pot the basil plant, spread out the green tomatoes, etc.

I told my wife all about the garlic talk on BYC in the past few days and she told me that there is supposed to be a garlic festivle in Colorado Springs this weekend. It will be put on by pikes peek urban gardens. Ppug
It will be held at 124 E cheyenne road. 11 to 3. sept 13th.
I may just have to go and see if i can secure some more elephant garlic for the upcoming season as my harvest was less than stellar this year.

Whoa! What are the odds? Thanks! I'll definetly head over there, might be easier than trolling the hundreds of varieties of garlic trying to decide which one is best. Hubby is going to make my first raised bed, just for garlic.

I covered my plants with sheets last night they look ok this morning.

The 6 3 week old chicks are bored in their brooder box in my bathroom, wtd? An injured 7 week old slw in my kitchen er, it can't walk correctly. The 25 dp meaties piled out of the coop this morning are now piled on top of one another in the enclosed run in one corner.

I fell asleep watching season 4 of game of thrones and eating gluten-free lavander cookies. Maybe they made me sleepy along with 2 glasses of red wine and a roaring fire.

My laying flock has a long window across the top of their coop it's plexiglass, and my kitchen light is always on, which shines directly into the coop/run, it's a very dim light over the sink, but I suppose that counts as artificial light for my flock? They huddle together well and with 10 in the coop they keep each other plenty warm, although I do worry about my polish Phyllis. She's due for another fro trim today too. This weather is kinda cozy, inside. It wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't so much going on in the garden that needs another month or so though before harvesting ideally.

Margie, Margie, Margie...how do you do it up there? Bears, three month growing season, floods, harsh Colorado weather, my oh my....
Light dusting of snow here and holding at 32F. It is snowing/sleeting now. The chickens don't seem to mind, they are out digging around in the wet looking like drowned rats.
