Colorado

Welcome to the thread! There are quite a few peeps down in the Denver area. It sounds like you will have a lovely flock of chickens!
Oh thank you. Do you have any of these hens? I have heard that the Golden Campine can be flighty, but the chickens depend on the way they are raised... what flock do you have?

How are your BLRW doing? We are in the Springs and get a shipment of day olds this week. We are so excited! I can't wait to have some BLRW!!!
? Not sure whom you are asking..., but congrats on the new chickies. Wyandottes of any kind usually do well around here.

I have had SS and they are very talkative! I am supposed to be getting some LF Cochins this summer, hopefully Blue, but I said that I would take any color if Blue was not available. I have a mix of hens and a roo from a mixed flock as well, 26 total.

Cool! I'm in Littleton, CO! My family and I are getting 6 chickens. Welsummer, Blue Cochin, Black Langshan, White Plymouth Rock, Speckled Sussex, and Golden Campine. Didn't realize the process took so long, we have to fill out a large permit here. hahah.

Welcome to the thread interesting mix of girls you are getting. We have two Wellies and love their darker eggs.

So got my feeders built and they are ready to be put in the run but need some crumbles. Funny story called Hygiene feed yesterday to make sure they had what I wanted and then we drove up there and they were closed. I forgot they close at 12 on Sat and we were thre by 12:20  oh well I will get crumbles tomorrow.

My understanding is the 5 gallon bucket feeder will hold 25# of feed, I am hoping we can get 75# in the 15 gallon feeder. Maybe have to feed every three to four weeks.

We got about 6 inches of snow overnight. I have completed my horizontal nipples project, both bucket have their heaters in them. They seem to be working just fine.

Margie,

I am looking at Ideal for chicks and they have a LF feather footed assortment. I am looking at ordering about 10 of them. The first breed they list is Cochin. I certainly wont need 10 feather footed big birdies.
I am looking at them since I can get Cochin pullets there and not from Cackle. I may cancel the Cackle order and get mine from Ideal.
I will let you know what I get and when if you like.

CoChix,

Nice work on the feeders! I bet they will work well. On my Home Depot buckets I have the Gamma lids. I really like those lids. They cost about 8 dollars each but they make it so I can open them easily even with my arthritis.

The five gallon has a gamma lid, just didn't show it in the pic. Do you have bucket feeders?
