Sunny here most the day, so warmed up some, chickens are out and about, after being cooped up on, and off last week.   Still had one egg freeze though, knew I should have checked for eggs more often during the day.

Congrats on your Dr Pol retweet!!!  Sorry you are having issues with the cold and your injuries. I wonder if there is some kind of natural supplement you can take to help.  Hope your first hatch of your homegrowns goes well!!!

Thanks! I love his show so much even though almost every episode has an animal that dies & I cry like a huge baby! LOL I wish we had a vet like him here in CO. I can't believe with all the livestock & farms out here where I live, not a single vet handles chickens. Bit disappointing, that. I think Dr. pol fixed up 2 turkeys & a chicken that episode, plus all the cows, horses, rabbits, dogs, cats, etc. The man doesn't seem to turn any animal away.

I'm not sure about the supplements, but it's probably worth looking into since I've had to go back on the pain meds they gave me when I got out of the hospital & no one wants to be on that stuff for very long. Thank you for the suggestion!

I hope I get at least 1 chick from my flock! It's barely been a day & I'm trying to will the eggs to develop faster so I can candle them! XD

Please explain the Dr. Pol thingy and how he oicked your picture? Pretty cool.

I am going stir crazy again, been in the house since Tuesday, can't take any chances of failing, with the ice, on my arm. Anyway, looks like another few days of winter and then into warmer weather and day light savings time next weekend!

@Percheron chick sorry about your day!

He had been asking his followers if anyone had rescued a dog or if anyone raised chickens & I shared that pic (had taken it earlier that day when he was helping me do chores) after sharinga pic of my rescue dogs & he decided to share it with all his followers. I always assume no one is reading my tweets so that was a big surprise when the likes/retweets started flooding my phone. He's a cutie but I've not been caring about my appearance since being in the ICU.

I hear ya on avoiding the snow & ice so as to not prolong recovery. I must have twisted/sprained both ankles on it 20 times each before I started using my cane to do chores. Just better to rest up if you can get someone else to do the chores for you. I hope everything is going okay with your recovery!

The man that's been buying my eggs came by and picked up another 100 today and told me again to NOT put my sign up. He wants to keep doing this every week. He also told me that the first 100 that he bought 3 weeks ago started hatching last night and that they already had 20 chicks out and about from that group. I asked him to keep me informed so I could determine if all my "boys" are doing their jobs. He said he'd let me know. I'm really interested in the hatch/non-hatch percentage since the oldest eggs in each group basically sit on my dining room table for a week before he picks them up and sets them.

He asked me for a list of breed possibilities so I typed him up a list of possible combinations. 5 possible pure breeds and 3 possible mixed breeds. He told me he had two chicks that were white with 4 black stripes down their backs... I said I had no idea but possibly Delaware x White Wyandotte or vice versa. He said he had another that was all black on top and yellow underneath. To that I had no clue. He didn't really care and said all so far have been beautiful. He told me next weekend he'd like for his daughter to come and take pictures of the birds. I told him I'd do it and print them out for him so I took some & copied them to a disk as well as printed them for him for next weekend. At $50.00 a week for the eggs, I figured I could do that for him.
He seems pleased, and I am, so I guess this is an ongoing good thing for each of us

The only thing I don't like is until the girls really start laying with the longer days and warmer weather, I don't have any extra to sell to my other regular customers. But they aren't paying me .50 per egg either... And so another weekend is coming to a close and I have to go back to work tomorrow... blech!

I am sooooo ready to retire (a 2nd time)!

Wow, wind is really blowing here, but is not the cold wind of winter, so not sure what is up with it?!?!?

Congrats on all the egg selling!! I bet he and his daughter will market them as sr chicks, or started pullets when they are older. Nice for both of you, and at .50 hatching egg is deal!!! I know nothing of chick coloring except what I breed here.

So was listening to the radio over the weekend as I was inside most the time, and heard a progran on Krill Oil, and how people who use it see a difference in joint releif within a week. Might be worth looking into for those of you healing from breaks, sprains, and surgery. Can't hurt! This one was from Purity Products, and was a special they were running. I have ordered from them before, the specials are under radio offers or something like that on their site, you can try them for free, just pay shipping.

Dr Pol is old school, these new fangled vets with all their equipment probably don't get him...... It does scare me the way he drives on his show! lol Usually very fast to get to his next appointment!! Through slush/mud, or whatever, he only has one speed.....

Dr Pol is on Animal Planet (I think), it is reality TV about a vet. His practice is in dairy country, Wisconsin or MN??

Oh I have seen the show and know of him, I was just curious how her tweet was seen by him, etc.

Just read that Boulder and Larimer County is under a Winter Storm Warning starting at 5pm today unti 5pm tomorrow. Said it is possible for part of Boulder County to get 10-18 inches of snow :fl. Praying this doesn't come true.

So I am wanting to just scream from being cooped up and unable to do a bunch. I get sick of tv and BYC, believe it or not, plus now feeling a bit under the weather. Next week we switch to daylight savings, I cannot believe that, that will be nice.

Hopefully, it won't be that bad for you guys and you can get outside a bit and do stuff. I'm just holding out hope my animals and I can hold out one more week of being cooped up because for some reason I have convinced myself that next week will be much better. Wishful thinking! :D

Thanks the issue is we have about a foot of snow on the ground and it is slick. The surgeon scared the crap out of me and said the biggest risk I face with my wrist/arm surgery is to fall. So I cannot really just be out and about in this stuff. I am doing my chicken chores and I am spending sometime with the flock just trying to see the dynamics now we are down to one rooster.

The forecast I have seen is we just need to get through this week and then we will be into warmer weather and getting up to the 60's again.

Sadly, Rocco has lost another tip on his comb due to frost bite damage. I am hoping he will be ok, I have been putting feed in the open feeders during this cold. I would imagine sticking a frostbitten comb into the PVC opening might be painful, especially if scraped on the sides. Poor boy.
