I probably don't know what a 3 week old pea comb looks like vs a single comb.

Oh well...I guess we will just have to wait a few more weeks and see what we see. They are outside now with their 'mum' and loving scratching and flying around.

It definitely isn't as obvious as some of the others so that should be an indication that it is a pullet if it is a single comb.

I put my girls to work in the garden. Sprinkled corn chops to get them poking and scratching in there. I'm hoping if I keep this up until things are ready to plant that they keep the new weeds and grass in check.

another mystery solved. They are blue wheatens. I got my trio at POL so I didn't see the feathering changes but both cockerels and pullets start with the light head and dark body. I agree that #1 looks like a boy. Those are some sturdy legs on that chick.

I think maybe 2 were covered by my roo Lenny, but the rest are half ac. Some are platinum looking and have black skin, i haven't looked in everyone's mouths yet either.

I'm setting more eggs tomorrow after the straggler eggs have had time to catch up.

I can't get a straight answer… We have 6 and 5 week old chicks. They are in the brooder in the basement (60 degrees). I have been taking them outside during the day. The low here in colorado springs this week at night is 30. Can we take them out to the coop without heat full time? I won;d really like to get them out there but don't want to wake up to dead chicks.

I would stick my chicks out there no problem and I live up here. As long as they are fully feathered, they are good to go.
