Colorado

I was reading something from a CSU extension agent saying how hard that deep freeze we had in November was on all the trees in the area because the trees weren't entirely dormant, and ready for a hard freeze yet.
I think we will all find we lost some trees, or at least lots of branches.
The article said that this years blossoms will probably be affected because they begin to form in the fall and they lots of the trees 'next year' blossoms were frozen back last fall.

I bought them from Harding Nursery in the Springs. They've got a great warranty so I'm sure I'll get replacements, but I always feel bad when I kill off a tree.
Maybe I'll get lucky and these are actually ok?

My young flowering pear trees took the November freeze pretty hard. I know I have lost branches on them. They still had leaves on when the freeze hit. My peach trees seem to be ok for now. I will know more when they flower in about a month.

It is still early for cherry trees to flower or show signs. I think you may be ok but yes only time will tell.

Uzi, Them are some cute little critters. Congrats on the developing chicks.

It has been snowing off and on all day here in Loveland. Starting to stick to the grass now. I am glad I waited on doing anything in the garden. I am hoping this does not wreck my tulips and daisies.

They're in the chicken run. The dirt in there is fantastic! When were first moved out here, I planted a tree in there, and when we knew it was dead I dug it up, and the root ball was still in the shape of the pot it came from at lowes! Because the dirt out here was dry and hard as a rock, the tree roots couldn't penetrate at all. Fast forward and the chicken have worked that dirt real well. I give them about 6 bales of straw and alfalfa every six month, and they scratch and break it up, and in turn we actually have worms and bugs in that dirt now. When I raked all the mulch from the trees, the dirt is really moist and nice, so I'm really hoping we didn't lose them. I'm still watering, and just going to keep an eye on them.
Our replacement Linden survived and is already sprouting buds and new growth, so we're pleased with that.

Thanks for the info on the fruit trees. We moved into our house last year late May and the previous owner had planted a bunch of fruit trees, we are trying to figure out how to help them grow and bloom! :). The wind is crazy here in Fountain tonight!!! When I went to lock up all my girls it took my breath away!!

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I'm glad I tried incubating/hatching. Things haven't been going too well with my car accident recovery lately, but these little guys sure make me smile (so do the responses they get from my dogs, too).

Hope everyone made it through this spring snowstorm okay!
