Gentile reminder. Wild asparagus is out.  Pick your private stash before someone else finds it.
Asparagus and poached eggs on an English muffin... mmmm,

I have raided my asperagus patch already. It is way to close to the chicken coop. They like it as much as the family. I need to go an another walk by the creek and pick more wil asparagus as well. It likes to grow in amongst the trees and weeds.

Cute updated pictures of every ones chicks, and those not so new! They get so big really, really fast!

Can you post pictures of wild asparagus??? I could be walking right by it and not no, as I have no clue what it looks like in the wild, or in the garden for that matter, since I have never grown it!! lol

You get used to the hatching, as if you stagger your hatches then you usually have some hatching every week! So is like your birthday every week! ;) LOL Oops, accidents happen!

Wow, what a difference a day makes, is beautiful outside, getting lots of things done today, going to be a busy spring/summer.

First pip!

here's a recent pic of most of my babies from the farm and ranch store, the black and white one is the only one with a bigger comb, what do you think my chances of that being my only rooster (with a couple bossy hens) might be? They have been flapping up to the temporary roost, its a curtain rod

The coop is still in progress though, maybe we'll get most of it done this week since the rain stopped !
Just a gentle reminder that thin "perches" are for song birds, not chickens. Their feet aren't designed to grip thin things like curtain rods... their roosts should be wide enough that they can stand comfortably on them and lower themselves down to cover their feet to stay warm during the cold months. For adults, a 2x4 laid wide side up seems to be about perfect. Cute chicks
