Colorado

I hope your little group does not freak out on you. Ducks are much more mellow about changes in my experience.

There is some weird behavior going on in my flock these days. Not illness but pecking order and who is where kind of stuff. Bunch of weirdos is what I find myself calling them now.

Hoping this will bring a grin. Yup more weirdos.

Hi everyone! I'm in Monument,CO. I just joined so I can hear about ahs talk about chickens! I currently have 10 hens and a huge beautiful buff Orphington rooster! I look forward to making new friends.

Thank you! My flock is looking good now. I actually rescued then from a horrible home.:( They had never been outside of the barn they were living in. I had to file beaks and clip nails because they could not eat or walk. The lady that had them didn't feed them anything but sweet feed for goats. The poor rooster was almost killed by an aggressive rooster. The friend who told me about thwm said she had never heard the rooster crow. So she and I rescued them. They are now happy and healthy!

@Mkp1983 Welcome to the CO family! Pretty birds, pretty BO. We have a BO roo as well, love him! So lots of us have been talking chicks, as Spring is around the corner. Any on your wish list, will you be ordering or hatching?

Actually my fiance wants turkeys. We tried last year for a Tom and hen but ended up with all toms. So a friend of mine is ordering a bunch of turkey pullets and when they are sexable (is that even a word? Lol) we will get a ton and hen.

@lomine :hugs sorry for the loss of your duck. You are right about animal therapy, I couldn't think of a better way to heal.

@Mkp1983 - I bet those girls and boy and sooooo happy now. How great that you and your friend did that and rescue them. They are great to have around. Good luck on your turkeys.

Bienvenu, Mkp1983. I am happy for you and your birds, and I know you will have many friends on this thread. In addition to your feathered friends. Good job with the revival. Sounds like you got some SURVIVORS.

Thanks everyone. Leyna and Cody (my dogs) are making sure I get lots of cuddles, so I am doing better. @21hens-incharge your picture did make me smile, thanks.

and the Colorado thread. Glad to hear you were able to rescue the birds and are giving them a better home. Do you know what breed your hens are? That black one is very striking.
