Did the the coop make it to its permanent spot? How's it looking??

Not yet. My husband has decided we need an overengineered pad for it and the run. He'll be done with that today and we will fill it with road base on Tuesday. I've been getting them out every day, though.

Road base is essentially crushed rock/sand with some larger gravel mixed in. It compacts well. It is what most people would use for a pad as its a lot more stable than if filled with sand or dirt. For their run, I will probably add sand on top of the base.

AH that makes sense now. I was thinking of the recycled road base that is all tar and asphalt. You may end up needing to make them a dusting area that has soft fine stuff in it that they can really stir up.

Mine have a 10 inch deep crater they created recently.

I plan on giving them a dust bath box, for sure. They are currently creating a crater in their temporary run. Sunbathing and dust bathing.

Took my favorite oldest daughter and her aunt to dinner last night at http://www.miyamaofcolorado.com/index.html The food was excellent, as I've come to expect there. So today I took them to a nice little Philly steak sub place for lunch http://www.patscheesesteaks.com/ at Arapaho & I25. Another excellent meal. And I wonder why I can't lose weight?! Tomorrow morning I take the aunt to the airport to head back home then will drop #1 daughter off at work, then back home to veg for the remainder of the week.

Mine was busy but very fun! I fit in a backpacking hut trip outside Winter Park, ran the Bolder Boulder today, and made it to a BBQ. A good weekend!

So we are looking to downsize our flock a bit, we will be selling the following birds......

2 - two-year-old layers, one Welsummer and one Easter Egger.
3 - one-year-old layers, barnyard mix all lay brown eggs.

Hello!

I am new here, this is my first post. I'm a home maker mom of a son (9) and a daughter (5), we are each going to get to name one of our new chickens. Our coop is mostly built and I'm almost done converting an old shed into a run. I'm very excited to get our birds! We are allowed to have 6 in our city, so I built the coop with that in mind even though we plan to start with 4. I'm in Aurora and hoping to find pullets old enough to go straight to their outside house. It looks like most craigslist ads are 45 minutes or more away. Any favorite breeders near here?
