Colorado

for all you in the El Paso County Area....
This Saturday ( the 30th) there is a big poultry sale up at the County Fair Grounds (Calhan). There will be birds for sale from local 4-H kids, everything from chickens to Turkeys, gees, and ducks.

I'll be there! Not sure if we're buying any new additions but it's a possibility! Our hamburg is being bullied by our top hen (EE) and we're debating turning the Eglu into a bantam/small bird coop. Maybe a d'uccle and a polish? And, of course, that would free up a spot in the new coop so maybe a brahma hen to replace Tiny...

Lord, Chicken Math is attacking...

Hi!
Our crazy-haired silver laced polish, which we got at the pueblo chicken/rabbit show early this season, has all grown up into a handsome rooster! And by his crowing, we know he needs a new home!!! To loud for west side Colorado Springs!
I'm not sure how to go about this, so tell me, is craigslist the way to go, ... or do we take him to the animal pound? Or what? He's free!

DON'T TAKE HIM TO THE POUND!!! The moment you surrender him is a death sentance. No one usually wants roosters as the adoptors usually live in the city, so they are almost automatically put down. My Tiny (Light Brahma) was a similar case. I posted him on Craigslist as Free to a good -stewpot free- home. I had three potential adoptors in the first four hours and he was at his new home in days. If that fails, there is a farm animal sanctuary in Black Forest. I can't remember the name, but it shouldn't be too hard to find with google.

Oh tooooo bad we don't live closer!!!!!!! Just last night, raccoons wiped out my daughter's Silkie flock and killed my husband's SLP cockeral that I hatched from an egg swap on here!!!
I'd love it if there were a poultry swap here on the west slope!!!
