Yayyy Cara! OUt in the country! and asking about pig feed! Think you might check with local 4H or Extension office for pig feed options though if looking to maintain the pigs (rather than fatten for market) maybe something like a breeder ration for hogs? Bear in mind....a diet heavy in corn is a fattening feed for market animals. Also many market animals are kept in smaller enclosures (muscle doing less work, more tender the meat) so if piggies are getting a good running area....they'll run off some of that feed

Hey guys,

So I have four hens and one rooster. I've seen all of them sneeze at one time or another but they always seem attentive, high energy and feed and drink at will so I figured it was the typical dry colorado air that got them sneezey. Well now I'm not so sure. One of my buff orp hens sounds congested and sneezes a lot more in the past twenty four hours and she seems more lethargic than before. She will still engage in chicken football or chase the grasshoppers but when she is still she seems weaker somehow.

All chickens are just shy of laying age....four of buff orps and one is a mix. One of this hens has laid three eggs but not sure which.

They share a coop but free range every day.

Anyway, I have some duramycin ten but am not yet willing to dose them. Any input or ideas of what might be going on? The chicken in question has no outward signs of infection beyond being more lethargic than the others and sounding more congested. She was the last to leave the coop this morning and was not at all phased by me touching her, which usually they protest!

Hi Ryan,

You could add some raw apple cider vinegar to their water. It is a good general tonic. Hopefully someone with more chicken experience will comment. I have ducks and quail, not chickens.

Does anybody have any phoenix or yokohamas for sale in Colorado? Laying eggs, roosters or hens? Any breeders?

I can't find any places online, Murray McMurray is sold out...
